Low 3 star. Fits the mold

Don't want

But you said he fits the mold?

Three star U right?

I will say I look more at offers and USC supposedly offered so maybe he is pretty good.

I do agree recruiting has been a serious concern this year, do not mind taking 3 stars with 4 and 5 star offer list, but most have not been the case.

"Cherry said Vols defensive line coach Steve Stripling visited him Wednesday, and he plans to talk with his mother and “hopefully” decide by Thursday whether he will visit Tennessee this weekend before making his final college choice.

“It’s a very interesting offer. I’m actually considering it,” said Cherry, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 1,004 overall prospect and No. 51 strongside defensive end in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. “Tennessee is a great program, and I really want to investigate more into it and see what they have to offer me for my future.

“I was dead set on Cal until Tennessee called, and that really made me bring things into consideration and to really think about things. It will be tough to change my mind about Cal since I’ve been committed so long, but I’m willing to give Tennessee a chance to convince me otherwise.”

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Cherry said the offer from Tennessee “was out of the blue,” but he likes what he has heard from the Vols and what he knows about their program.

“What they told me is they really liked me on film, and they really liked the type of person I was and how I put academics first and just to make sure I take care of my business in the classroom. I was just so shocked that they put that (offer) out there,” he said.

“I’ve seen Tennessee be on the rise currently right now in the SEC, and I feel like they’ll be a great program soon and be able to compete with some of the top teams, such as Alabama and Ohio State.”

Cherry said he’s “open to playing wherever" on the defensive line, but he played defensive tackle during his senior season."

He reminds me of Danny O'Brien coming out of high school... I don't see anything that suggests he has the grit O'Brien does but could grow in to something... He needs more explosiveness...

DOB was like 6'2" 285-290, I think, coming out of HS. This kid is 6'5" 265...how are they similar?

Man I am so stoked we are starting to get top 1000 recruits in here. We are gonna be a terror on defense just like last year ! (Insert Blue Font)

I like his size. Film is pretty good, but I'd like to see more explosiveness. He lines up at DT a lot, but is probably a DE at the next level. I have no clue about the competition.

Mmm idk 6'5" and add about 25 lbs and he would probably be a good run stuffer.

We need a few DTs to come in and be able to play asap. You don't win in the SEC with no depth/talent at that position

That's why you recruit them yearly.

Not many high school DTs are ready to come in and make an immediate impact in the SEC.

I would love to have this kid just to establish a pipeline into one of the best schools in the nation

He is about the same talent level a little raw just like O'Brien was... He also lacked explosiveness, what gave OB a hand up compared to this guy is that he had more grit than this kid plays with... About the same skill level coming out of high school...
