— Sean CallahanAnother member of former head coach Mike Riley's "Calibraska" group has decided to move on from the Husker football program.
Former four-star wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey has asked for and been granted his scholarship release per a University of Nebraska football spokesperson.
The 5-foot-9, 200 pound Lindsey never was able to catch on at NU.
After having a minimal impact in 2017, Lindsey had just 22 receiving yards, 9 rushing yards and 1 punt return yard on 10 all-purpose touches over the first four games.
Because of the new NCAA four-game redshirt rule that went into effect this season, Lindsey can take a redshirt for 2018 and preserve his eligibility for this season and still have three years left to play.
true. but he is hte excepiton, not the rule. there's a place in football for guys like that. i don't know a thing about this kid, much less whether or not he has the same 'competitive nature' 89 had. i've lived in charlotte for 20 years, and watched him play every week for a lot of years. dude was small, but a freak athlete, and as everyone knows, as competitive as anyone you want to put up against him. if this kid has that, then it will take him far.Steve Smith was too. If he's interested, I hope we can find a spot for him. We are in dire need of play-makers at all positions.
