'17 FL CB Christopher Henderson

He is headed home from his visit. Tennessee definitely helped itself with him. It seemed like he really got along with the coaches and players. Tyler Byrd was his host and Byrd told him coming to Tennessee was the best decision he made. The message was clear from Tennessee's coaches, the team needs playmakers and he would be one if he chose Tennessee. Florida and Auburn both very much in the mix. More coming soon.

“I loved it. I loved it,” said Henderson, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 132 overall prospect and No. 15 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. “The coaches, the atmosphere, the fans — it was great. It was better than I expected. I didn’t expect it to be this good. I’m thinking about them a lot now after this visit. I really had a good visit.”

“They’ve been talking to me for a while, and I took them serious,” Henderson said. “They just kept telling me they needed playmakers and stuff, and I’d make an impact early. I saw that they need somebody that can play, and I feel like maybe I can play early here.”

“He’s really cool,” Henderson said of Martinez. “It was like I already knew him when I actually got to talk to him a little bit more. … (Jones) just kept telling me how he needed playmakers right now and that I should have been on the field and stuff.”

Henderson’s mother accompanied him on the visit, and he said “I think she thought it was fun, too.”

“I’ve got all the way to signing day (to decide),” he said. “But I’m thinking about making a decision probably January (1) at the Under Armour (All-America) Game.”

Also noted that Tyler Byrd was his host on the visit, and Byrd told him:

“He just told me it was fun, it was the greatest decision he ever made, and just enjoy the process and stuff,”

Top Five via Scout: Miami, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia.

ANALYSIS

"Henderson is a speedy, two-way athlete that has a reputation for putting fans at the edge of their seats," said Florida Recruiting Analyst, Corey Bender. "The majority of his suitors envision him in the defensive backfield at cornerback, butHenderson is dangerous as they come when the ball is in his hands. Henderson is a smooth athlete that can really operate in space and flip his hips with ease, but don't be surprised if he makes a splash as a return man as well."

Butch told this kid after the Alabama game that with all the injuries he'd be starting this game if he were here right now.

Tennessee certainly impressed Henderson and his mother and initially coming out of his official visit his plan was just to visit Auburn and then make a decision. That has change drastically as he's set up visits to Georgia in December as well as Miami the last weekend before signing day.

Question on 247:

IYO are we still in it with Chris Henderson?

Callahan's response:

Still in it, but a lot of people seem to think he's going to end up at Florida. I would say Tennessee probably needs to get him back on campus closer to signing day to have a really good shot at him.

Shame we can't get in on this kid and he'll likely end up at UF.

Scott needs to get his azz in gear on these Florida kids. I've been kinda disappointed in his recruiting this cycle. When he joined the staff they made it seem like he'd be pulling great prospects out of Florida left and right.

So far all he's done is flip Byrd and Williams.

Agree 100%. A 4.37 verified at the Under Armour All-American game practice.

Reid came here because LSU passed on him.

Johnson is a good prospect, but not elite or anything. We should beat MSU for most kids we really want.

We were Brown's best offer and didn't have to fight other schools for him.

I like Scott a lot. But I have been disappointed in his recruiting this year. When he came here all we heard was about how great he'd be for recruiting in Florida, but he hasn't done much for us this cycle.
