'17 FL QB N'Kosi Perry

I thought it was good news. Need him focused on football this off season.

Not out there fooling around with the baseball team, risking injury...

Didn't expect him to play but thought it would be beneficial for him to get the throwing reps with someone other than Sheridan watching him with experience analyzing throwing motions.

This guy throws weird. Unless they still think Sheriron is transferring I don't get it.

I like the idea of taking a high upside guy this class. Someone who is decent and willing to sit and develop for a while. Then we can take Lawrence in the next class who is more of an immediate impact player

Going to NEED a guy in 2017...let him throw weird as long as it gets there. If one QB candidate doesn't transfer THIS Spring...they will next year. Without a 2017 QB in place, you're down to 2 for that whole year. :scare:

Eh, I'd rather him spend the offseason working on his football craft.

He can still play baseball next year.

Sheez, no he doesn't. When he steps into his throws its a beautiful thing to see. He's got great touch,
and only looks a little unorthodox when throwing on the move. That can be fixed. This kid is an amazing
talent, we'd be fortunate to sign him.

Just Rewatching his clips. It's not as weird as I remember but I will say he throws a better deep ball than Dobbs :)

Haha.

Also he was the 6A POTY? That's pretty good I'd say.

I didn't understand the throws weird thing anyway. I can barely make out his number on a lot of the plays, idk how anyone judges his arm movements. He looks like a more impressive Dobbs back when he was a recruit. I haven't seen too many hs qb films that showcase as much touch on passes either. 6A poty in Florida and his stats are mind boggling. 11:1 Td/int ratio plus 10 more rushing is very impressive.

Perry seems to throw a pretty nice deep ball. Granted his receivers are often WIIIIDDDDEEEE open but he had a few passes where he put the ball right where the WR was supposed to be and let them make a play. Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if this young man was our QB this cycle.

Right now, N'Kosi Perry, the former Miami commitment from Ocala, Fla., appears to be maybe Tennessee's top QB target in the 2017 class, with Jack Sears of California also a pretty high priority at this point. Bailey Hockman, a Georgia commitment from the Atlanta area, also holds a Tennessee offer and is scheduled to visit the Vols this weekend, so he's another name to watch.

This would be the perfect restart to this class. All we need is one domino to fall. Keep in mind the '14 class didn't take off until TKJr committed in mid-March, then we had what seemed like an avalanche of commits.

I believe Vic Wharton was actually the first commitment that year but I could be wrong. But I agree we just need that first domino to fall 👍🏻

tennessee is also making a strong push for perry. A factor that makes tennessee attractive to perry is the type of offense that they run.

“they run a spread type of offense and i feel like that does fit me pretty good,” perry said. “we went to a spread offense with my high school team this year and i feel like i did pretty good with it.”

The four-star junior quarterback from Vanguard High School in Ocala, Fla., a former Miami commitment, told 247Sports’ Keith Niebuhr on vsporto’s SEC Recruiting Buzz podcast that Tennessee and the Hurricanes are his current favorites, and there’s a good chance he will visit the Vols for the first time this spring.

“Both schools are showing a lot of interest in me,” Perry said. “That’s what I like the most — the interest. That means they want me. They want me to play.”

The 6-foot-3.5, 176-pound Perry, who decommitted from Miami in early February, said his high-school coaches and Tennessee tight ends coach Larry Scott have been trying to figure out when Perry might be able to visit the Vols.

He said he’s “almost 100-percent sure” he will make it to Knoxville in the coming weeks.

“I actually haven’t been yet. That’s the main thing we have been working on — Coach Scott and my coach — to get me there this spring,” said Perry, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 289 overall prospect and No. 10 dual-threat quarterback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. “They just tell me I’ll love it out there, it’s a beautiful place, and I can enjoy college there.”

When he makes it to Tennessee, he said he’s “going to look at how the coaches treat the other players around them, how strict they are, how laid-back they are.”

Perry said he has been in frequent contact with Scott and Vols offensive coordinator Mike DeBord since getting a scholarship offer from Tennessee in early January, and he’s encouraged by the direction of the Vols’ program.

“I talk to them about every day, almost,” Perry said. “I like where everything is headed with Tennessee. I think they’re on the come-up.”

He said he considers himself “a dual-threat quarterback because I like to create space when I snap the ball and keep my eyes downfield.” And he likes what he has seen from the Vols’ current dual-threat quarterback, rising senior Joshua Dobbs.

“I like Josh Dobbs,” Perry said. “I went to the game when they played (at) Florida, and he played a great game. My legs are not as good as his — I’ll say that.”

Between his two favorites, he said he believes Tennessee’s offense is a better fit for him than Miami’s system “just because it’s spread, and that’s what I run at my high school.” But he said both schools have made him a high priority.

“I think they both want me the same amount,” Perry said. “I’ve got a great relationship with a lot of coaches from both schools.”

I'll step out on a sturdy limb and say this is our QB of this class.

Will be happy with either Perry or Sears. They fit and can run the offense. Better passer in Sears, better DT in Perry.
