Interesting that they let him go. May really be some grade concerns so let him look. I think he is OM or Juco bound.

i know some people felt the need to attack him on Twitter this morning. In skipping Sunday school to work the phones this morning, we understand that murphy has been in contact with tennessee yesterday and this morning and all seems fine. grandma is important and she likes the Vols.

Not sure why he didn't feel comfortable telling us where he was yesterday, but he didn't and that's his right.

In my opinion, our coaches know he is a Vol if he can qualify, but they want him to have a backup option if he does not. I'm uncertain on the differences in being able to qualify at Tennessee versus Ole Miss though. I just believe Ole Miss would be more flexible to get Murphy in their class if he had issues with qualifying.

After talking with some people this morning, I don't believe Murphy lied to Tennessee's coaches about not being at Ole Miss yesterday or anything like that. He did cancel the visit on Friday, as he indicated to us Friday evening, and Ole Miss apparently visited Murphy yesterday and convinced him to make the trip at the last minute.

The Vols have been in contact with Murphy this weekend, and at this point I think they still feel good about their chances of holding onto him. Murphy and those close to him apparently have downplayed the significance of the trip and have indicated there's a good chance he still will sign with Tennessee on Wednesday.

Still lied. Then posted proof of lie on social media. Dumb. He should have just ignored the question from the media on where he was.

No, because it's wrong to lie. I'd rather have speculation out there than conflicting messages, of which the recruit is doing one thing but saying another. I have no problem if he wants to visit. That's between him and the coaches. Sure, good for him on that.

I find it interesting that Danny Parker over on the Scout site reported that he was in Oxford last night and those still posting on Volnation did not believe it. They preferred to believe Austin Price who was reporting that Murphy told him he was at home and also reported that the coaches were told the same thing.

Now I am not calling anybody a liar, but if Callahan is correct that coaches were aware that he was visiting Ole Miss and were ok with it, then I have to question where Price was getting his information.

Is Murphy really that much better a prospect than Pouncey? They are both 3 stars and Pouncey is taller and has his grades already

Danny is pretty good it he didn't work for Scout he would probably have more credibility

It seems Parker was watching the kids snapchat and VQ wasn't. Price texted the kid and he said he was at home. Come to find out he wasn't being honest with the media but the important part was that the coaches knew where he was, he didn't lie to the coaching staff.

Yes, Murphy is that much better. I think Murphy will be the 2nd best WR on the team, behind Jennings, from the 1st day he gets here

I'm a big fan of Murphy and really hope he's a Vol but Pouncey is no slouch, his offer list is a mile long.

Hubbs said the reason that we decided to take another WR is
1) grades of 2 prospects
2) injury recovery (Fant)
3) Murphy and Jones are both in the 160-170 pound range
