La Vergne rising senior Maleik Gray, one of the top high school football prospects in the state, has pledged to play his college football at the University of Tennessee.
Gray, a 2015 All-Midstate selection and Mr. Football semifinalist, announced the decision via Twitter on Sunday, posting from his account, I can officially say that Im committed to The University of Tennessee!! #VFL #GBO"
The 6-foot-2, 186-pound Gray, a four-star prospect according to most recruiting websites, held offers from more than 20 Division I programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Vanderbilt, among others.
Gray, a 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl nominee, recorded 53 tackles 13 behind the line of scrimmage six sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a pair of defensive touchdowns for the Wildcats in 2015.

One school just got great news on a Sunday. Four-star safety Maleik Gray (6-foot-2, 182 pounds, LaVernge, Tn.) announced his verbal commitment on Sunday afternoon.
Gray, who was targeted by a number of big-time schools including Florida State, Alabama and Tennessee announced via his Twitter account that he has committed to Tennessee.
