'17 TN ATH Maleik Gray (UT signee)

I did and also gv my reasoning being the 1A lil boy football when it came to Bituli. Watched him play Pearl Cohn and he put on a show. With Gray I've watched 3x and he never showed up including Friday against Smyrna. If a team runs the ball 20+ times and you're playing in the box and have less than 4 tkl on defense that's not good @ all. On offense zeroes catches but your considered a superstar and all world athlete not good. This is 2 yrs in a row though guys. I spoke with coaches at both FSU and Ala both stated he wasn't a take for them right now. Like I always says he's built like Tarzan but it just doesn't show up on that Lavergne football field. Others who were at the game also told you all he did nothing spectacular but I'm the only one who you remember. Top 100 guys who are legit play like Jacob and Jacoby or TJ Carter or Okeke who outshine him last yr.

Perhaps we don't recall the others b/c they aren't so regular in their criticism of young men.

Look we get it..you think Gray sucks, but he is a UT commit and he is going to be a Vol. If he busts, he will be "processed" with all the other "couldn't hack its" that wash out. But with his obvious and measurable physical ability, is it not just a little possible that our Coaches(which the way, they're pretty good at it) can mold him into a weapon? Why do you take so much joy in posting MGs statline?
IF he busts, then you can crow all you want about how right you were.

Ulysses is right about him being processed if he carries this lack luster style of play to UT. If Shoop can't get more out of this kid, then no one can.

I was thinking that or maybe already looking ahead. He doesn't have to earn offers anymore so maybe not playing as hard or afraid of getting hurt. Guess with that said maybe we should question his lack of competitiveness instead of skillset

So I guess we are just supposed to take your word that you spoke to coaches at FSU and Bama and they said that? Cool. I guess because you have watched him a few times and he hasnt performed well, that means hs isnt that good. Have you shared your concerns with UTs coaching staff? I am sure they will take your professional opinions seriously.

When I moved to AZ it was hard to get into playing football because of how bad the team was. Lost all motivation due to that.

I really think youre underestimating his ability. Hes a top 100 player for a reason.

Higgins is the only player in Tennessee that has more God given talent than him.

Lavergne doesnt have an oline... thats part of the reason he has been put in space so much.

Gray could easily be the number 2 back the moment he steps on campus. Easy peasy....

No, I don't think so. He's not even playing safety in high school, so it's hard to evaluate him right now based on what he's doing on the field. But I think he has the physical tools necessary to be a really good safety.

Yes. I played (long ago) with a kid that had a scholarship to auburn. He ended up at mtsu because he got into a bit of trouble and auburn pulled his offer. Anyway, he played RB and FS. 6'1 & 205 as a junior. Coaches had him move to DE for a couple of plays. First play he knocked the opposing QB out of the game. Second play, opposing RB out. He was good anywhere on the field.
