'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

As bad as Drew looked last Thursday at LT, I could see this kid coming in and starting week 1 next year.

Tatum and Trey could be our starting tackles next year.

Damn, I hate when I give it a "like" when I only meant to quote it!

I hope Trey comes on, and he might start early for us ...

... but I didn't think Richmond looked bad for first game as a freshman. We had other OL guys who had a worse game.

Lol exactly what we want is a true freshman starting in the SEC at LT. Anybody that thinks DR looked bad Thursday didn't watch or doesn't watch enough film...

Richmond played better than Robertson, Thomas, and Kendrick IMO. Still need to watch again

I only saw one play where he screwed up and I'm not sure it wasn't scheme. There was a play early on where Weisman pulled, Robertson and Thomas blocked down, Richmond kicked out almost like pass pro. The guy over Richmond ran around Weisman and made the play. If Richmond had washed that guy down inside and Weisman had picked up the guy Richmond held up there should have been a huge hole for Hurd.

Honestly one of the worst thing about that non-play following the Smith catch is that it was perfectly blocked and it didn't count.

I just quickly researched the offense and Richmond may have graded out the best for me. Guard to guard was pretty average.

I've went back & watched the replay of the game myself. Coleman Thomas was murdered on the field. That really does surprise me because every single lineman of ours outweighed their man by 40-50lbs+.

He just got beat by quickness for the most part it looked like to me. He missed tons of blocks. Poor Hurd got just about all of his yardage on his own for sure. Thanks!

If you watched Richmond and did not follow the play you would have noticed that he struggled. Now, it was his first ever game against a good defense. So that is not to say he won't become a really good player. But he struggled a lot in that game.

I don't think Richmond struggled as bad as Thomas though.

Did they find out who did it? Is the police still looking for the killer? FWIW Thomas was hurt and probably shouldn't have been playing.

How hurt was he if we know? Do you know how bad he was hurt? He certainly didn't act like anything was hurt watching him play. He looked more like he was lost at times than anything else to me.

Now, if he was really hurt it may explain some of his problems but what was hurt? His feelings probably more than anything else after that game. But, in all seriousness if he was hurt & performing that bad he shouldn't have been playing. We have extra lineman to play in case of injuries. Thanks!

Richmond played lights out. I thought you watched a lot of film and knew a lot about football. He played good for an upperclassman LT, not to mention a RS frosh. He deserves way more credit than that foolish dismissal of his performance. Kid did real good.

It was reported by Hyams on Friday that Thomas was hurt going into the game. And why are you thanking me?

I say thanks at the end on ALL of my posts buddy. Just something my mother raised me to do as a sign of respect to others. You haven't seen all the other members making fun of my "thanking" posts?

Folks who reckon Drew played badly need to review the game some more. Overall, he played really well. He was not beaten inside but once all night. He knew his assignments, and he protected the outside edge flawlessly. In a game where App St seemed to live in our backfield some other players, all with game experience, didn't do nearly so well.
Thomas, Robertson, and Wiseman were frankly outquicked all night. But playing Bret Kendrick at RT was a disaster, plain and simple. He was just out of his depth and he floundered, visibly at times.
If Coach Mahoney doesn't have a better combination of linemen than what we saw thrashing around Neyland on Thursday night, then we've got real trouble out ahead of us.
Hurry up and heal up Chance Hall!

You rednecks can admit weakness but I wont. I'm perfect. Posts are flawless.
