'17 TN RB Cordarrian Richardson (Clemson commit)

Quite a stretch to call Ellis our " starting H-back". Ellis was essentially our second string tight end behind Wolf.....didn't make a single start last year on the way to 8 catches for the season. He was a great story was a walk on contributed a lot in a secondary role. But it's not right to somehow suggest that he was in there as a starting H-back ahead of 5 star running backs Hurd and Kamara IMO.

I agree that we had 3 stars on both sides of the ball, but I disagree that they made up a majority of our players/starters. I count 14 4 and 5 star players who, when healthy, were on the field a majority of the time, not counting 5 star Kyle Phillips who also got some snaps early in the season before his shoulder injury.

Also, Medley was considered one of, if not the top placekicker in the country coming out of highschool.

I answered the objection to the role of the H-back as starter previously.

Also, my claim was that we had 14 of 22 starters who were 3*s. While I did talk briefly of the rotation, the emphasis was meant to be placed on the starters. My apologizes if I didn't make that exactly clear.

I said 14, someone supplied the information to back it up, you got more butthurt. Let it go, man.

Good morning VolNation!

On defense, last year, 7 of the 11 starters were 4 star composites.

McNeil/Kelly, Kirkland, Maybin, Tuttle, O'Brien/McKenzie, Barnett, Maggitt

You can't count Vereen in your starter list of 3 stars and leave out the 4 stars who also subbed for injured players, or played a lot of snaps. Like Phillips, Kelly, Mckenzie (who started the same or more games than Vickers), Abernathy, and Kirkland (who started more games than Jumper), etc. Our original starters, and players who started the most games, are mostly comprised of composite 4 stars.

On offense, 5 of the 11 starters were 4 star composites. Would have been 6 but Marcus Jackson was out for the year. That's not counting Jones and a few other 4 stars that did start some as well.

Dobbs, Hurd, Kamara, North/Malone, Pearson/Jenkins

So that's 12 four star composite starters and 10 three star composites starters total. Not to mention, about half of those 3 star starters were ranked as 4 stars on at least 1 or 2 sites. Anyway, it was 10 not 14, and this year, our starting line up, and 2 deep will be comprised of even more 4 and 5 star players.
On defense, 8 or 9 of the 11 starters, will be 4/5 star composite players. On offense, at least 6, of the 11 starters will be 4/5 star composite players. For a total of 14 to 16 of the starting 22 being composite 4/5 star players. And we will be better, don't you think?
Also, I know rankings don't always tell the whole story. Every team has few 3 stars that are outstanding players, that's not abnormal. Like you, I am excited at how well our staff seems to be able to coach up our players. A high 3 star rating doesn't mean they won't be a good player. It's supposed to mean they aren't as likely to be an instant impact player and/or may not have as high of a ceiling. Usually that is correct, but not always, for various reasons.
However, when your starting 2 deep is mostly 4/5 star players, mixed with a few outstanding 3 stars, you are generally a better team, especially after some experience.

I think Nationdom is one of Freaks alt accounts so when things slow down he picks one and logs in, stirs the nest and then sits back and counts the $$. :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

Not sure about all this, but generally I agree when we are talking about guys subbing in.

The code has been cracked.

One more thing.... Martin was indeed a 4 star composite. His "original" high school evaluation was cut short because he dropped out of school his senior year, got his high school equvilancy, and then went JUCO. His first full ranking was a high four star.
So last years team was actually made up of 13 four star composites, and only 9 three star composites.
That also makes 15 to 17, of this years starting 22, that will be composite 4/5 stars.

I admit I didn't know that about Martin. Glad to see him working hard after an apparent rough patch.

Again, this was all about LAST season's starters, not the starters this Fall.

Enjoy your ban...

Per Galilee on VQ, Cordarrian Richardson is not that solid to Clemson. Said FSU is working their way into the picture.
