'17 VA DE Elijah Conliffe (Florida commit)

No, it's been reported by multiple sites that UT pushed for a commitment early last week and he wasn't ready so they took Palmer's commitment instead and moved on. He could have been a Vol a week ago but lost that opportunity.

He 100% didn't have a spot open today at UT or PSU for that matter.

So, are you saying we don't have anymore room left for another recruit to commit Ron? If so, what's the hype still going on for Ray then?

There is something more going on here. School after school that was his 'favorite' ends up passing on him. I agree there are some reaches in this class, but I'm going to reserve judgment and see how his career plays out as to whether or not we're angry at the UT staff for not taking him.

If he does pan out, will we be critical of Saban and James Franklin for passing on him too?

Many will say sour grapes but VQ mods aren't high on him either. They think he's too slow. The next 4 years will tell the tale.

It already says "signed" at 247 Sports instead on committed. He must have signed on the dotted line either before or after his verbal announcement.

Cannot sign until tomorrow. 247 has a trend of screwing up their recruit page updates.

carry over would be my guess and it'd be a good idea.

I'd think so too because if we can't get Ray there are no more big fish to get. Just save it CBJ. That's what I hope he decides to do anyhow. As a coach though can he have the hold back to leave a spot open? That's the question.

Are you asking if he can back count? Yes.

If you don't think an elite DT isn't more important than a lowly ranked WR then the joke is on you.

Hell I would take a 4-star DT over a highly rated WR much less than a diamond in the rough.

The joke is people on here who think they have all of the information to make an informed decision. But not surprised.

BTW, Bruin, you also don't like "cutting" players. So, which one would you have done? Cut Jones or take Conliffe.

So was a negavol banned recently and then came back as vo11s? I don't see how you start out that negative unless you've had plenty of practice.

I think we pass judgement real quick. Only a couple of options here IMO. First let's look at it this way. if your going to wait on a kid to signing day might as well be Ray and not Conliffe.

I'm sure the staff would have taken him had he committed when the staff pushed. Also the staff recruited him so I'm sure they had an idea of where he was leaning. Maybe Conliffe didn't have Tennessee as his 1st option. This late in the process you have to take the for sure recruit.
