I know it's plastered at the top of Drudge, but good grief.

$170 million for a swearing in ceremony? That's 4 times what our current fiscally irresponsible clown spent. Now we need more?

I'm shocked that more people aren't flabbergasted by this Obama crew's penchant for spending. All of the discussion about it being bad and spending our way out coupled with this little doozy scares the scat out of me.

I don't get it. Pissing away money is not a solution. I agree with spending out of recession, but typically that spending is on something that might provide a return someday, not staff and parties.

The biggest group of donors were none other than the recently bailed-out Wall Street executives and employees.
"The finance sector is well represented, despite its recent troubles," Ritsch said. "Those who worked in finance still managed to pull together nearly $7 million for the inauguration."
The donors will get some of the best seats in the house for the inauguration, as well as admittance to some of the best balls and other events.

He's a megalomaniac. What do you expect?

He rode the Lincoln train route. He is using Lincoln's Bible to swear in. He considers himself as great as Lincoln.

EDIT: Don't want any of these fool liberals reporting me to the Feds.

How much of that $170 million is public funds?
you need to start barking up a different tree. It sounds like about $43 million of it is private funds. Roughly half of it is recompensation to VA and MD for the obscene amount of security being provided.

I wonder if we could get Ford's Theater to loan some nut that derringer? :whistling:

Thus implying that you are advocating the assassination of the POTUS. Wow. Stay classy.

what difference does it make? Bush 2005 inauguration cost 43 million and involved 10 thousand security personnel and the left went berserk over the "Fortress DC" aspect.

The Obamassiah's inauguration involves 42 THOUSAND security personnel.

That means there is a credible threat to Obama's life.

A truly historic inaugeration. Tough on the far right reactionaries, but it is what it is...the first black man to take the oval office. Like it or not, it is a great day for this country. Too bad there is so much fear and hate from the far right.

Not sure why I'm surprised anymore but each of your posts that condemns fear and hate is full of stereotyping and derogatory comments about people that don't share your view. Tis a thing of beauty.

Don't be absurd. A great day for our country doesn't have to equate to ungodly needless expense. Reactionary far right in this context is absolutely stupid. Shameless expense is what it is, regardless of the sorry ass pol doing it.

You keep complaining about the right and pointing at Bush's issues, but you can't see this as what it is. The guy has a huge issue with gov't spending and you simply can't acknowledge it.
