Clemson looking into him. From Clemson rivals site

Tennessee has supplanted Auburn as his stated leader, with LSU and Ole Miss also involved.

The Vols may get his first visit this summer.

He intends to render a decision this summer after visiting a bunch of schools.

Provens said he would like to bring his family to see Clemson’s campus before returning perhaps to compete at the Dabo Swinney camp in a month.

“I’m going to try to do both,” he said. “First I want to go up there with the family so we can get to know each other. I don’t want to just jump into the camp part because then you can’t really meet everybody and do the main important stuff.

“I definitely have interest in them.”

Would be a big get. This kid definitely reminds me a lot of Kamara. Not sure his top end speed is elite, but he looks super explosive out of cuts and has the agility and versatility to play RB or in the slot.

Do we take both Teague and Provens if both want to commit?

We have some numbers, but we have very little experience. We don’t really know much about the talent. On paper, they were recruited for the offense we run. I guess we will find out this Fall if we need two or more RM in the 18 class.

I would say we still need two. If Teague, or someone else develops into a clear elite talent we may just take one in that case. Because right now we have one proven guy, who could leave after this year, and a whole bunch of unknown.

or if Kelly stuck for another year I would say 1 is fine.

I think we take two. IMO we'll lose one of scholarship RBs by signing day. Two if Kelly goes pro.

I think the plan all along was to take two. I don't think we would've accepted the Corbin commit so early if our plan was just 1 rb in this class.

I don't believe Provens is a take right now otherwise he'd already be a Vol. He wants to be a Vol and his family wants him to be a Vol but he's at best 3rd or 4th on the board right now. VQ mods said on this weeks podcast that if Teague picks UT this month they will likely push hard for Dixon as the 2nd RB this class. If he doesn't commit quickly look for the staff to push for Grant and/or Provens as 2nd back. Basically we're waiting to see who Teague picks and the dominos will begin to fall.

I hope that the staff waits on Dixon, and doesn't move on just because he won't commit when they want him to, unless he tells them he's going somewhere other TN.

They will wait on Dixon. There is no reason to be in a hurry with RBs.

I would be surprised if Provens is a take. I'm not as impressed with his film as others seem to be. He looks really small to me and his overall athleticism / quickness for his size isn't that impressive. Plus he doesn't show a lot of durability as a RB. He looks much more like someone used in a hybrid role. A few carries here and there, lining up at wide out almost as much.

The 3-star running back was in Knoxville and camped today doing all the drill work with Robert Gillespie.

Provens has it down to five finalists and will announce on Aug. 11 at 9pm est. He will see all five of his finalist before then and plans to be back to see Tennessee again before his decision date. Of the five he has seen Auburn, Tennessee, Louisville (next weekend) and then will see South Carolina and LSU sometime in the next month.

He said of the five a couple of schools are standing out but wouldn't name them.

He said he weighed in at 187 today. Auburn is recruiting him as an athlete. At Alabama's camp recently he worked as a slot receiver.

Everyone else is recruiting him as a running back. He said that he didn't care what position he plays.

From SEC Country:

3-star Tae Provens, Madison Co. (Ala.): As the Tigers search for one feature prospect, Auburn will also look for a versatility option. The two names to look at are Harold Joiner and Provens. With Joiner favoring LSU, Auburn has re-initiated regular contact with Provens who attended Big Cat Weekend and is set to decide Aug. 11. If Auburn makes it clear it’ll use him as a running back, Provens will end up a Tiger.

This kid wanted to be a Vol badly but our coaches didn't have him at the top of the board. I wish him well. Good luck, Tae.
