getting cornerback griffin to campus is huge. Griffin, a ucla commit, has strong ties to the area and is close with pruitt. He won’t sign until february but getting him on campus already is a nice start for tennessee’s new staff as it targets high-upside talent. The vols are clearly trying to restock the defensive backfield, with griffin coming to town and january visits set with 5-star isaac taylor-stuart and 3-star roger mccreary.

THE SKINNY: The Top-50 prospect has been committed to UCLA since July, but Tennessee has given Griffin something to seriously think about with its coaching change. Griffin has family in Chattanooga and already has a nice rapport with Pruitt, who was previously recruiting him to Alabama. Griffin will not sign until February.
