'18 FL CB Tyson Campbell (Georgia signee)

Griffin, Campbell, E. Smith, ITS, Palmer, Davis...in that order (imo). Think Copeland wants to play WR like Moore.

#5 class should be the floor. Remember Butch Jones landed a top 5 class in his 2nd season. And Jeremy Pruitt and this staff are worlds better.

I think top 3 is more likely.

Butch’s never sniffed even a top 10 avg per player ranking, his “top 5” classes were really 15ish looking back.

Pruitt will have us in the top 3 overall in ranking and per player ranking. Gonna be elite.

Seems like i've heard several people say he's a two way player potentially fwiw. and we definitely need more DB help than WR...

Disagree, wouldn’t say “definitely” by any stretch of the imagination imo. At best it’s a wash and realistically, we have more players at DB than WR.

We have some talent, both proven and undeveloped at both Safety and Corner....Warrior, Abernathy, TKJr, Jackson at safety....Shamburger, Labruzza, Osborne, Byrd, Buchanan at Corner.

Conversely, we have two proven WRs on the roster right now (Callaway and Johnson), both of which have to get much better, much more consistent. Palmer showed nothing last year as a starter/guy who was in the lineup a lot. There are others like Murphy, Jones and Fant who we’ve really not seen at all.

So, imho, I’d give the nod to WR as more of a position of need at this point, especially with JJ’s return up in the air and the experience that we have at safety....especially with Warrior who I think can be an all-SEC type player.

Would make sense. I was curious as to why we were still going after WRs given our needs in the secondary.

We need both, but remember that Pruitt is a defensive coach and he will make sure the defense is built first and that it will keep us in ball games early in the season. The offense will take , but it will get done especially when the defense keeps their offenses off the field. Saban has done this for years and one sees the results.

Agree. If you break it down by class, not cumulatively, he had 1 top 5 class, 1 top 10 class, 2 top 20 classes and a top 25 class. Average ranking was 13th, same as Derek Dooley for crying out loud. JP will undoubtedly do much better than that. And we have to believe that JP and staff will develop their players world’s better than Lyle and his merry band of MAC coaches.

Other than Shamburger I haven't seen anything from any of our other CBs that instills any confidence in them to be the type of players we need to make a big step on defense. That could change with a nice new staff who can actually coach, but we know that JJ, Callaway, and Johnson are talented wideouts and are proven imo.

Safety i think we're in pretty good shape but CB i think is the weakest position we have other than possibly QB.

It’s better than some posters insisting we move Crosby to fullback for some mind blowing season.

Probably because he played RB in HS too. Looked pretty good on film. But yeah we need him to play NT. Won’t be a FB in this offense. Just RB’s, TE/HB’s.

I’m definitely not discrediting the fact he played RB in high school a bit but the dude is 330+ now Lol.

Exactly. No fb will even be used.

Even if we did use a FB it wouldn’t be Crosby. I could see it in goal line situations tho.

Griffin is the best pure CB

Campbell is a physical cover safety. Who can play CB...but that's not his future

Smith is more athletic than Campbell

Campbell looked like a natural CB up close. Who told you that? He and Surtain are the best two prospects at CB.

OG is my favorite guy to watch but Campbell is a monster prospect and may be better than Surtain.
