yeah, i mean all the staffs in the country offer all the same players and run all the same schemes.

you guys with your continued attacks on Jones, who was an A+ recruiter, are just petty at this point. let it go.
:pilot:

how's that attacking Jones? you dont see a difference in the types of playeyrs showing interest? the types of players being pursued?

This staff is nuts.

Get the kids on campus and anything can happen.

This is no attack on Jones and his staff, but Pruitt and Company are going after every top player available, regardless who has offered them, or which school they have "committed" to. This staff will not be intimidated by anyone on the recruiting trail, and I believe this will translate onto the old ball field, as well. This is a breath of fresh air on Rocky Top...

C- recruiter

If not for the legacy players, Jones would not have cracked the Top 10 in recruiting. And those legacy players helped recruit just as much as Jones did.

Jones sold a lot of people lemons

None of the legacy kids turned out to be dominant.

Evan Berry as a Kick returner could argue his case as the biggest impact guy out of the legacy kids.

Problem with Butch was more player development than actual recruiting. Unfortunately everyone brought in here during his tenure was done a disservice. I think part of that has to do with the S&C program here (which should be fixed in short order), but also a coach and likely staff in over their heads in the SEC.

Nevertheless, it's a new era. While I would love to see a class this year ranked higher than some of Butch's best, I know in my heart no matter where this class ends up rankings wise, the players brought in during this year will have just as much if not more impact than any class brought in under Butch. I'd expect more kids drafted from the 2018 recruiting cycle than under any of Butchs respective classes.

Jones didn't recruit that well. He may have gotten some ranked classes, but look at the continuity of those classes vs his scheme. Jones wasn't in the same league of recruiting as current staff.

Jones recruited well. He just didn't develop or couldn't handle the type A guys and was not honest with people. He cut the rug from the coaches and staff that helped him get here burning bridges at every turn.

He was off to a fine start for this class but gave up once he knew his job was done

Jones may have been able to sign highly ranked classes, but look at the attrition rate. I will always say the down fall of Butch Jones at Tennessee had everything to do with the firing of Lawson. The weight room went to crap, and the injuries piled up. The losses soon followed. And that with poor development and you get what we had here last week. Failure to Communicate.

Lawson was an awful mistake. You don't cut your right hand man that was with you the entire way.

His 2015 class of 30 recruits that finished 4th nationally only has 11 players left on the team. Only 3 of them left early for the draft (KMac, John Kelly and AK who I guess didn't leave early but was a juco). And at least 2 of them had career ending injuries I think. And I think 1 or 2 never even made it on campus.

2014 class had 32 signees.

12 players from that class were significant contributors/starters, success rates varying, Medley/mosley types vs. barnett/gaulden types. and several busts/transfers....Hurd,Wharton, Bates, Blair, payne, Darrell scott,....anyway you get the idea.

the 2015 class had 30 signees.

Preston Williams, Boulware, J Jones, S Jones, Q Dormady, kyle oliver, Darell Miller, J. Bruce either transferred or never made it on campus. even Jennings has been kicked off the team. and others in that class like Kmac, Tuttle and Richmond have not been exactly living up to the billing.

it was very much feast or famine with CBJ's 'classes, and the rankings they got had a lot to do with the sheer #'s signed....and in the end, we did not reap the benefit of those large classes, as the depth never developed or it just went away for whatever reason.

there's just not a lot of substance in those classes looking back.

silvera, a top-100 prospect and the nation’s no. 2 defensive tackle in the industry-generated 247sports composite, has been committed to miami since february but hasn’t closed the door on other schools down the stretch. He’s coming off an official visit to florida last week, and the vols convinced him to make the trip to knoxville after staying in contact with him for at least the past few weeks.

But miami still is scheduled to host the 6-foot-2, 308-pound silvera next weekend on his final visit before signing day, which might make it difficult for the vols or gators to steal him away from the hurricanes.
