I wish we could get one real big time CB .

If I'm honest, it does feel like this is THE position group we have struggled to recruit. We recruit well everywhere else, but for some reason, we can't seem to reel in the top level guys at this position. Sutton was a gem, but since him, we've had minimal success, at best, recruiting the cornerback position. Seems very strange.

Maybe if Warren has the DB's balling this year we might get in on some next year .

You just have to remember that the guys that are committing to us at DB are guys that Warren is recruiting. While you dismiss the level of talent these guys have, it would appear that Warren disagrees. No offense to anyone on here, but I will take the players that Warren likes, despite what a ratings service does.

I'm just saying that I hope we can get a top 10 CB one day .

Agree, but Warren isn't used to coaching in the SEC. Tennessee can pull in more talent than he's used to at NC. And Tennessee will need more talent than he needed at NC.

I am with you JR. I trust the coaches and know they have done a good job of evaluating talent, but you are not going to go find all kinds of undiscovered Suttons and develop all lower ranked recruits into lockdown defensive backs. We need to reel in some elite talent at that position. There is a reason some of those guys are so highly rated and hyped up. We need some swagger and attitude in our secondary. Lockdown coverage and good tackling would also be nice.

I think Warren will be a difference maker though. Wiggins was a great addition. I think he will have the guys coached up and ready to go. I am really excited to see Martin reach his potential too. He is very talented.

We landed one two classes ago.

He plays on offense

Would u rather have Byrd move back to CB ? I would. Especially, considering the talent UT will bring in next year at WR. This year, I would try to give him 15 snaps or so, on defense, with the understanding that in 2018, Byrd would be a full time CB

That's 15 snaps a game

I could care less where he is ranked by a recruiting service. I just want him to be well coached and be able to play the position. I don't think we have had enough of either for the last 4 years.

I don't think being used to coaching in the SEC has anything to do wit it. I think Warren is recruiting players that he believes will help us get better. Coaching at Tennessee or any other SEC school, provides a coach the opportunity to recruit better players. It also provides the coach the ability to evaluate a lot of 0players and each position he has responsibility for. A coach does not accept a commitment this early, at a position of need, if he does not believe the player can help him make the team better. Certainly not a coach of Charleton Warren's oedigree.
