2016 class: Signed 21 /12- 3* 2017: Signed 28/22- 3*.

34 3* in a total of 50 , that was easily researched.

From which service?

Scout! Yells Tony

I like what UT sports does with the guys who sign. they list them all and give the stars from each service. this year of the 27 names they had 13 had 4 stars on at least one service.

we took a lot of guys who were borderline and did nothing by rise in the rankings. usually a good sign with me. better to have a 3* right outside of 4* who has gone up, then a 4* who has done nothing but fall in the rankings. jmo

What I don't get is why does 24/7 make it so hard to see their rankings? They default everything to the composite. I can't even see the signing class ranked by 24/7. Kinda stupid undermining your own evals.

Theirs is the number under the bold number. 247 actually has us 25th.

Yeah but I want to look at our class and see the 24/7 individual rankings listed and I dont see how to do it.

And you can not find a team list with their rankings for our players. You have to look up each player individually.

Also.....If you are looking at individual service evals everyone seems to prefer Rivals or 247 over espn or scout. And yet most choose to look at that composite which supposedly includes all 4 sites even though they probably never check Scout or espn but a few times each year.

Rivals: 15
247: 11

That's how we finished ^^^^. Composite says 17 but the composite of the two sites that matter is 13.

After getting scholarship offers from Tennessee less than a week ago, two teammates who are among the top running backs from the state of Georgia are planning to visit the Vols.

Three-star junior running backs Anthony Grant and Christian Turner of Buford (Ga.) High School are scheduled to travel to Tennessee on Saturday for its first junior day of the year, Turner confirmed to GoVols247 on Wednesday.

"The running back Christian Turner from Buford, GA was here for the first time and was impressed with things. He is an Alvin Kamara fan. Vols offered him last week (1 of 6 schools to offer last week). He hopes to be committed by the summer. NC State is in it pretty good at this point. We will have more."

“They offered me last week. I have been hearing a lot of great things about Tennessee so I decided to come up and see for myself. Everything was up to my expectations,” the 5-10, 180 pound back said.

As for what stood out, it was the all the things available to the student athlete. “To me it was the facilities we saw and coach Gillespie was telling me how they take care of the players at Tennessee,” Turner said. “The stadium is amazing. You hear that a lot but it was great to see for myself.”

“I was just watching his highlights before I came up to Tennessee and see how he played for them and how they ran the ball with him. I think I could fit in that role,” Turner said of Kamara.

“I know I'm going to take a trip to NC State and I would like to see some of the new places that have offered me like Missouri so I can see for myself what they have to offer,” Turner explained. “Tennessee is definitely up there.

“I think my recruitment has really started to pick up. I got six offers last week. I feel like things are starting to take off.” “I plan to be committed by the end of spring. I'm fully open right now, but I would like to be committed before my senior season starts,” Turner said.

"Christian Turner was up in Knoxville over the weekend and UT impressed. The Vols now hold the lead for the 2018 RB out of Buford, Ga."

“I don’t really have a number one right now, but they’re definitely going to be one of my top schools,” said Turner, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 479 overall prospect and No. 29 running back in the 247Sports Composite for the 2018 class. “It was great. I’ve been hearing a lot about Rocky Top. We actually had a commit here before, (three-star safety) Bryson Richardson, and (Tennessee defensive tackle) Quay (Picou) and all them, so this is my first time seeing it for myself. But they were saying how beautiful the campus was and stuff, so it was just exciting to be able to see it in person.”

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Turner said Tennessee already has caught his attention for a few reasons.

“Really, just the relationship I have with the coaches right now, seeing it for myself, seeing the stadium and the fan base — one of the best fan bases I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Turner said he spent time Saturday with Vols coach Butch Jones and running backs coach Robert Gillespie, and he has enjoyed getting to know Gillespie.

“I’ve been talking to him a lot,” Turner said of Gillespie. “I got to talk to Coach Jones a little bit. I got to see a lot of the coaching staff, but the main (person) I was talking to was Coach Gillespie. Not just coaching-wise — he’s a great person in general. He’s the kind of guy I know I could go to if I need anything, so I just want a bonded relationship — not just a coach-player relationship. I know I can talk to him as a person, on a personal level.”

Two former Buford standouts — redshirt sophomore defensive end Austin Smith and Picou, a rising junior defensive tackle — currently are on Tennessee’s roster, and Turner said he still stays in contact with them after playing alongside them during his freshman year at Buford.

“I was with them my freshman year, so they kind of took me under their wing when I came in at first,” Turner said. “I saw Austin (on Saturday). I didn’t get to see Quay. He was talking highly of the school. It was good to see him again. I haven’t seen him since probably last summer, maybe, so it was just good seeing him. It was really more of just catching up.”

“I’d like to be committed before the season starts,” he said. “But as I said before, if it doesn’t go that way, I might just say during the season or after the season, so I’m fine with that. It’s just a goal of mine.”

So the 5 star and 4 star we have committed so far for the 2018 class says what about that "trending downward?"

For those who like to ? 247sports. Facts don't lie so live with it!

The only facts about those numbers are the ratings that were given by one of four services. The fact is that you said this year's class was trending downward and you have added nothing to support that. Other, than your opinion, which means just as much as mine. That is to say...it means jack.
