After seeing coaches almost daily the last few weeks and adding close to 10 offers during the spring evaluation period, it will be a busy first few weeks of the summer for Tremble.
"I started workouts at Wesleyan Wednesday, then I am visiting Georgia Friday, Duke Saturday and Alabama Sunday," said Tremble. "I will just visit Georgia, but I will camp at Duke and I will probably just hangout at Alabama Sunday. After those visits, I will go up to Notre Dame June 10-11 and then take a trip to Tennessee June 17.
"At first, I was thinking I would commit during the summer, but I know I have to give myself time and I have to get around and the see different schools. I am really not sure yet, when I will commit, but at the least, later in the summer I do want to cut my list down. "I still could commit if I get to enough places and figure it all out, but I may end up waiting until the fall to make the decision."
"I have already been to Tennessee two times and I love the coaches up there," said Tremble. "It is an amazing program, the coaches are always in contact with me and it is just a great feeling up there. Coach [Larry] Scott (offensive coordinator) and head coach Butch Jones text me almost every day, so they are showing me a lot of attention.
"With Georgia, with my dad (Greg Tremble) playing there, I have been going there since I was little, so I know a lot about them. I talk to coach [Shane] Beamer (tight ends) a lot like I talk to coach Jones and coach Scott at Tennessee almost daily. Coach Beamer is laid back, I like him and I have always been a Georgia fan, so it is a school I like a lot."
New Had a chance to catch up with the big Georgia TE after Orange Carpet Day.
Tennessee is deep in this one, no doubt. He said he spent most of the day with Larry Scott who made it a point to eat both breakfast and lunch with his he and his family.
Said that he hadn't put out a firm top ten yet but guaranteed that the Vols had a spot 'high on that list' when he does so in the next couple of weeks.
Said that he loved his first visit to Tennessee 'really loved it,' and today's trip just reinforced everything he felt that first time up which he said 'made it more real.'
Obviously the Vols are going to be battling some strong Georgia ties here with his father having played there but it sounded very much like they have given him an awful lot to think about.
three-star te tommy tremble of norcross, ga., said he had a great time today at tennessee and enjoyed getting to know the vols' coaches and some of their current commitments even better. It was only his second time visiting after he made the trip in april, and he said he's already hoping to visit again before the end of the summer. He plans to announce a top group fairly soon, and he admitted tennessee definitely will be among his favorites, and the vols are really high on his list.
Tremble said he's going to fresno state and ucla soon, and he's probably going to make it to notre dame after that. He doesn't have any additional trips to georgia planned right now, but he said he could visit there at really any time since it's close to home. He's the son of former georgia safety greg tremble, but tennessee remains a really strong contender for him.
THE SKINNY — Tennessee has been making a big push for Georgia tight end Tommy Tremble and it sounds like the Vols made a strong impression today.
Obviously with a father who played at Georgia, there could be some hurdles to overcome for the Vols, but Tennessee clearly has the big tight end thinking hard about wearing Orange after his second trip to Knoxville.
He sounded like today’s trip was all about making sure he really liked the Vols as much as he thought he did after his first visit in the spring.
“The first time I came up here I just loved it, loved the coaching staff and this second visit just really assured me that I really, really did love them honestly,” Tremble said in a fairly gushing assessment.
Tremble added that the fact that Larry Scott is both the tight ends coach and the offensive coordinator is unique and appealing. Tremble said that he plans to release a top ten in the near future and guaranteed that the Vols would be ‘high on that list.’ He added that he would probably make a commitment sometime in the fall.
In fact, Tremble said that he liked Tennessee so much on his first trip to Knoxville that he wanted to use this visit to make sure he hadn’t gotten carried away with that first impression.
“On my first visit I loved it up here, it was great, loved the coaching staff, loved everybody. This second visit just assured me that I really, really did love it honestly,” Tremble said in assessing this most recent visit to campus.
Not surprisingly Tremble got some close personal attention from offensive coordinator Larry Scott, who also happens to be the Vols’ tight ends coach. Tremble admitted liking that the guy who would be his position coach is also the guy calling the shots for the offense.
“I hung out a lot with Coach Scott. He ate with me and my parents twice and hung out with us. He gave us the tour. He was with us all day and I really liked that,” Tremble shared.
“It’s pretty fun knowing that it’s the best of both worlds with him. I honestly think it’s pretty interesting with him coaching both (tight ends and the offense).”
Tremble added that there was no "hard sales" pitch coming from Scott, that the relationship was low-key and relaxing.
“He was just telling me that he really wants me as a player and as a person. He’s not stressing me to commit right now. He’s telling me, ‘I really like you and hopefully you really like us.’ He was telling me that all day,” Tremble said.
Close followers of the recruiting game know that the Vols, and everyone else, face a unique challenge in their pursuit of Tremble. The highly-regarded tight end is the son of Greg Tremble, who played his college football at Georgia.
Despite that strong tie to the Bulldogs’ program, Tremble seems open to Tennessee’s pitch. He also added that his parents have been instrumental in insisting that he take his time with his impending college decision.
“I was hoping to make a decision before my season started, but my parents really stressed to me that I needed to take all of my official visits before I make a decision to make sure of where I really want to go before I make a big decision like that,” he said of his timetable.
Tennessee already has one tight end commitment in the fold: Farragut’s Jacob Warren. Adding Tremble to the mix would give the Vols what looks like a nice complimentary set of tight ends.
That’s the message tight ends coach and offensive coordinator has conveyed to Tremble.
“He’s talking to me about how they want a big tight end. My friend Jacob (Warren) is committed here already and he’s kind of a bigger guy and he (Scott) was telling me that they want an athletic guy that can put his hand in the dirt as well,” Tremble said of the Vols’ recruiting message.
“He was talking to me about being that kind of guy for them, a guy that can be a threat inside and outside, as an H-back. He sees me as a real flexible guy.”
Tremble has yet to release a firm group of favorites, but indicated he’s about to start narrowing things down with Tennessee assured of making the cut when he gets serious about trimming his list to a manageable number of schools.
“I think in the next week or two I’ll probably do a Top 10 and then a top three or five by the end of the summer. That’s what I’m planning on doing,” he said.
“They’re definitely going to be in the top group, very high. They’re very high on my list. I really like them. They’re definitely going to be on that list.”
