Speaking of lefty's I have a 5'10" twelve year old southpaw who can throw a baseball thru a brick wall with movement on it. The only problem is he is just as likely to throw a ball or hit a batter as he is to throw a strike. We've tried everything from pitching from the stretch to keep it simple to taking a little off his pitches. Nothing seems to work. Any pitching coaches out there with suggestions or should he just concentrate on football.

Hahaha speaking of coming out of left field. Haha. I like the question and responses though.

This. And have him work on holding his balance before release. And finish the release, while starting short and increasing the distance.

The pitching instructor had him to start from second base and then move to the mound..I like the idea of starting close and backing up that you guys suggested. Thanks.

Thanks..we're in West Tennessee. He's had a couple of high school coaches and a pitching instructor who used to pitch in the Mets system. They were interested and approached me. They thought they had him fixed. He goes to the mound strikes out the first 2 and hits the next kid and boom he can't find the plate.

I have a couple of pitching sons. I am a big believer in visualization. The old you gotta believe and then achieve. Also, a pitcher has to have short term memory, be able to shake off the occasional hit batter, walks or hits.

His problem is placement and touch. Have him throw a tennis ball from about 10 yards at a wall.... graduate back to 15-20 yards as hard as he can.

The key is that he catches the ball he throws in the air on the bounce off the wall. Doing this he will learn touch and ball placement. it really works👍

Have him eventually move closer as hard as he can for reflexes too

If you want to work on reflexes do what I used to as a kid and throw a golf ball at a brick wall.... helped with my reflexes especially as a pitcher for balls coming back at you...

He may need glasses. My son pitched for the Indians and he had a mean fast ball. Everything he throw was wild. We got him some glasses and it changed everything. They won the Series that year.

He has to accept that some will get away. Just needs to keep pitching IF he really wants to do so.

Lol. My oldest son had the same problem. He threw so hard it was scary. He sometimes was effectively wild. He would hit the first batter then everyone else would stand in the back of the batters box because they were afraid. We were never able to get it fixed before high school. He could throw a football over 70yds and he was pretty accurate with it. He eventually stopped playing baseball because he didn’t enjoy playing right field and stuck with football.

No high rating, but I like his tape. Shifty, smooth on his routes, and can turn on a dime. He will be a good option in short yardage situations. Staff must have a good role for him to reach out since there isn't much interest.

Nebraska offered. His tape must just be making the rounds.

EDIT: misread Twitter. He was retweeting somebody else.

Not a pitching coach but he is only 12. Plenty of time to to get to where he wants to be. Baby steps. dont over do it trying to force something. Right now he just needs confidence and short memory. If it never comes around attempt the outfield if he has a Cannon

I would definitely keep him in baseball too. Lefties that can pitch are always a hot commodity. I am sure the guys he has worked with have covered anything I can tell you, but just try to find a delivery that works and repeat it every time. The biggest thing with the young guys is havng good mechanics and being able to repeat them each pitch.

How high up of a priority is WR? Seems like we have bigger needs and are in on some better WRs.

We need LBs and CBs in a real bad way. another DT, DE and a S would also be real nice. Probably looking for another OL.
