“Marcus Murphy told @Chad Simmons he will leave the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game on Friday and head straight to Knoxville for an OV. Vols new staff was in-home with the Mississippi State commit last Thursday. Going to be a tough pull. Being recruited as a corner. Simmons will provide a full-update later this afternoon.”

"I have had a Tennessee offer for a long time, but the re-offered me when coach Jeremy Pruitt got the job," said Murphy. "I have talked to the coaches there and I will be leaving from the All-Star game and going straight to Knoxville to take an official visit to Tennessee.

"Me and my mom want to see what it is like. i want to explore it and see what it is like. My interest in Tennessee does have something to do with coach Pruitt, but I like the program too. "I am not worried about the past at Tennessee, but I am just looking at what is ahead for them. I want to get up there and give it a look because I know they have had a lot of great players and they have some good coaches now."

Over the last few days, Murphy has been in contact with Pruitt, Robert Gillespie and Terry Fair from Tennessee. During that same time, he has spent time in Starkville and gotten to know the new Mississippi State staff.

"I have met most of the coaches now and I like them. I like coach [Joe] Moorhead's personality because he wants to get to know his players. He is laid back, he is a cool guy and I have enjoyed getting to know him so far. "I felt good around the coaches and I have had a few meetings with them, so it is cool. I am still committed to Mississippi State and I still feel good about that."

His commitment may not be as strong as it once was though. Murphy is an early enrollee, so he will sign next week, but Tennessee will have their shot. "I am a little more open now than I was because of the coaching change, but I am still committed to Mississippi State," said Murphy. "I want to see if I feel comfortable at Tennessee. That is the biggest thing for me. "I want to get to know people and just see if it is a great environment for me. I will make my final decision next week when I sign."

Just show him defensive film from the last two years at Tennessee and remind him... that’s your new Miss State DC.

Then show him Bama, and I think you can wrap this up

Maybe we get a few booms this weekend. Taylor Murphy a juco Guy

Taylor will probably wait for his ceremony at school to go public.

I was told by someone connected to the Coffee County program that, as of last week, there was serious worry that Alontae was going to UGA. (said that he has a cousin down there) But, by what has been posted this week, it seems the narrative has probably changed. Kid loves UT.

I have a feeling this class is going to be pretty good when all is said and done with Pruitt and his guys. Plus I think they can evaluate talent.

To run a bama-like defense you have to have lockdown corners. Fast, physical, disciplined.

I assume Pruitt knows what he's looking for. So if Murphy is it, let's hope he commits.

We need a stingy defense.

OV this weekend...

THE SKINNY: The Mississippi State commit will play in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game on Friday in Hattiesburg and then leave directly for Tennessee with his mom. One of the first visits Tennessee’s new staff made last Thursday was to see and re-offer Murphy, as secondary coach Terry Fair and area recruiter Robert Gillespie went in-home. Murphy is an explosive playmaker, but the Vols are recruiting the 6-foot, 185-pound prospect as a corner. He took his OV to Mississippi State last weekend. An early enrollee, Murphy plans to sign on Dec. 20.

Terry needs to update his twitter handle. This is moving fast

Lightning fast and we're on top of it. So many of these "new" recruits have yet to see our facilities. I feel we'll re-establish ourselves for the early period and pick-up again after the dead period ends in January. A'IGHT!

You have to have good LBs. Their CBs aren’t lockdown. The front seven is nasty yearly though.
