'18 TN CB Shatar McClay (UT commit 4/13/17)

I guess we're using ESPN rankings this year

Or people look at each set of rankings and not just bias to one. Similar to how their are 32 NFL teams with different opinions on players. Rankings are same. Each site has ther hits and misses

Why can't they just rank recruits based on their ability to play the game of football? I know that their impact at the next level depends upon them getting into college, but the excuse of academics is inconsistently used. Some who are ranked very high, yet academic risks, do not have their ranking affected, while others do. Just rate the player based on his ability and be done with it.

The guy at ESPN that checked out grades concerns just got laid off so McClay should be a 4 star by tomorrow.

It doesn't make sense. There are 4-stars all the time who have grade issues and end up not qualifying. Do these sites actually say a guy is rated lower because of his grades?

I agree, there is never any consistency. Well besides consistently ranking kids low who don't fork over cash to go to camps

Callahan said that was the case here. He said it is used when a kids academics are in pretty bad shape.

Watched everything available on Mcclay. I have a hard time believing Beard will let Warren take him. Taylor is a 6.0, and Mcclay is just as good. He will get offers from USC, Texas, LSU, OSU if his grades are in order and he's doing the right things off the field.

The talent the state is producing is unbelievable.

The state is turning out to be like Georgia with how people are moving there. Talent is coming in from all over. All of a sudden the state is producing kids with monstrous talent year in and year out.

To think Knox could leave the state, and Tennessee could still land a top 5 WR class without leaving Tennessee for a wideout, is ridiculous. The talent and the coaching, at school and 7v7 type settings, must be very good. Watching TJ Sheffield highlights it was hard not to be very impressed by how well that entire offense looked. I hope some of their games are online this year.

Just hope the talent isn't being overrated like is the case sometimes in Tennessee. How many of Tennessee top rated prospects actually turning into legit big 5 contributors?

I don't see how Tennessee's talent is being overrated anymore than any other state. The talent in this state right now is legit. GBO!!!

NPA has been extremely good to the state of Tennessee prep level. A lot of the top prospects get to work with each other on the regular. It allows them to go to camps and dominate or hold their own.
