That's why he's saying it's not possible. Apparently there is a new 2 year NCAA rule that will not allow him to be signed at Memphis because his HS coach took a job there.

That only applies if it is an off the field coaching job, if the coach is hired as a regular , on the field assistant then the school can recruit immediately.

Let’s have some faith in Jpru. We good. Everyone’s panicking, and I’m right there with you. But we have a good staff in place, and an excellent recruiting staff. Let’s just take a breath.

Heck, we need the Memphis area. We need to recruit it harder. More talent comes out of Memphis than it does East Tennessee. If we can start owning Memphis, then we can get some top notch players from our state.

Lot of talent coming out of Memphis in the next few cycles. We need to get in there.

I think Austin Thomas has ties there in addition to the mid state.

Problem with Memphis is that there are 8 other SEC schools that are as close to it as Knoxville, with 5 of them being significantly closer. Additionally, and perhaps because of all this competition, getting high school athletes out of their schools has become a shady business on par with AAU recruiting. For one reason or another, it has rarely worked out well for Tennessee to get players from Memphis, going back decades.
