carvin's recruitment has been a weird duck from the beginning. i think it's as up in the air as anyone on the board. i do wish he'd of made it to town last week, that probably would have gone a long way.

still, i think there's a better than average chance here.

and while i'll tell you losing him would sting, i don't think it's an indictment either.

well, they've visited Carvin, iirc, so i'm sure they've told him to expect competition, and also how much they need OL. i would expect that he knows the deal coming in. i'm sure MSU is selling pretty much the same thing.

none of us in the SEC can have enough quality OL.

Memphis is shady when it comes to recruiting.

Even in college basketball.

Sure, there’s plenty of talent around that area but it just feels like a waste of time UT trying to overcome negative publicity when it comes to recruiting Memphis.

yeah, sucks that it's so far away. there's no real connection to East TN. i'm from N. Miss/S. Memphis, so i know the big ties to the area have always been Ole Miss, MSU, Bama, Ark and Auburn. all are closer than Knoxville.

of course, there's a huge TN contingent there as well. but definitely not a TN stronghold. we're closer to ATL than Memphis.

i've always wondered why we just didn't dedicate someone to the area. it's a good thing the mid state has beefed up in population and is producing more D1 top talent. but Memphis and No Miss could be a very fertile ground for us....

Thats probably just the time the school set aside for these guys to announce. I thinks is just easier for the school to get it over with all at once and minimize distractions.
