'18 TN RB Master Teague

we'll see...I'd love to be wrong on Teague. Sincerely, I would. Unfortunately I'm rarely wrong :)

GO VOLS!!!

Well, I am wrong a lot, but I think if all he was waiting for was thr tOSU offer then I would have expected him to commit immediately. Yet he didn't, which means he has to sit down with his parents and discuss his decision. So I may be way off but I think UT is in a really good position.

We can't really boast our line as being better than tOSU's though. We have only two advantages I can think of; proximity (which seems to matter), and playing time, which according to his dad, doesn't seem to matter.

I don't know, Chris. I don't watch OSU much, but I did see their Penn State game last year, and the OSU OL got dominated.

Reminds of last month when as soon as OU gave Martinez an offer, 247 assumed that's where he'd go.

What's worse, when Martinez picked UT over OU, Stoops had to quit.

Just saying that going forward...
OSU:
2018- 4*
2017- 5*, 4*, 4*
2016- 4*, 4*, 4*, 3*, 3*
2015- 4*, 4*, 3*, 3*, 3*

TN:
2018- 5*, 3*
2017- 5*, 3*, 3*
2016- 4*, 3*, 3*
2015- 4*, 4*, 3*, 3*

Stars aren't everything, and I'd be the first to say that, but tOSU can point to having as much current and future talent as Tennessee on paper, and they can make a convincing argument to an incoming RB.

Tennessee's line wasn't elite by any means, and they are breaking in a new line coach as well, which tOSU will spin as uncertain and unproven.

I'm just saying that the OL isn't a slam dunk in favor of Tennessee.

So here is what gets me. With Tenn, Ga Aub and now OSU having offered Teague and Clemson and Bama expressing interest ( arguably some of the best programs in the country ) How is it these stupid pay to play camps carry any credibility passing out stars to players that these top tier programs have no interest in, yet dis Teague and ignore him when he is clearly seen as a better option. So now these pay to play sights are better suited to judge these players than the best coaches in the country?

Its ridiculous. Chandler didn't camp either. That kid is grossly underrated.

Ty Chandler will be a freaking stud at UT

One of the other problems, which is hopefully what Teague is trying to combat, is that, when they do start playing college football the announcers know and talk about the guys based off of their rankings. Look at John Kelly. We all know he's special, but he was a 3* in the rankings. Going into his Junior year, there is still very little said about JK. I think he's listed as maybe the 6th or 7th best back in the SEC this year (I believe he'll be Top 3 personally). The name recognition is not there because of these stupid pay for your name to get out there sites.

I'm hoping that is what Teague is doing by going after Bama, OSU and Clemson offers...is trying to get his name recognized. That's my hopes at least. Good luck to the young man where ever he chooses to play.

I have known the Teague family for sometime now. My oldest son played ball Blackman and I attend church with them. I can say they are genuinely good people, great character high moral standards and very intelligent as both parents are Dr's. When they say it is still up in the air I truly believe it is. They do have things they like about the previous 3 offers listed as top choices. Proximity to home matters, men of character as coaches matter, programs with life development and focus on academics and personal accountability matter. I don't believe for one second that UT is seen as a mutt in this race. They have expressed to me that they knew which programs were genuine and which were not. I believe it will wash out in the end. I do think this offer was more about stock value than actually going there. I think based on his performance he was really not getting a fair eval... No way this young man is a 3 star... the 4.31 was not a fluke, his power and strength is not a fluke ...Running for 2k plus in 11 games in the toughest district in Tenn was not a fluke Being recognized as being a top back matters. Loyalty and support will mean something as the decision draws near.

Let them know about the time Urban Meyer said he had a dream about Shariff Floyd which is what kept him from retirement the first time. He said it was a sign from God that he was meant to coach him. Real godly man that Urban Meyer is

Consistent 4.31 40s at multiple schools. Even if they are off, he is still a 4.4 guy minimum. Recruiting sites are as crooked as a country road.
I think this is a place whee people get silly. the recruiting sites depend on the camps and events to gauge guys. I can look at a kids tape all day in his normal games but oftentimes they are playing against people way beneath them. You vna notice certain skills they may have but to really see it you have to see them against known quantities and against real competition. The only way to get a good gauge is to see good on good.

Look at most kid's' highlight tapes and it looks like them playing against middle schoolers at best. You have to see them play against other guys expected to compete on the level they are projected at. Most high schoolers will never play another game at a level above the one you saw on tape.

Then the sites should simply come out and say, "kid x didn't attend our camps and so we aren't able to evaluate him as we are with kid y who did come to our camps." They claim some bullspit excuses like he gained a little weight over the summer or he needs to get taller. If they just said that the kid didn't pay for our camp and we weren't able to see him in person, then I could at least respect them a little.

I agree with this but at the same time it would confirm the pay to play rankings

Great info. Best insight into the situation. Sounds like if u read between the lines you feel he is a TN lean.
