'18 TN WR Camron Johnson

Oh yes we were recruiting him too & recruiting him pretty hard until the past couple of weeks were things were leading to him possibly leaning towards Vandy.

This is a big in-state miss for a 4* WR but just another Tee Higgins miss I guess but Johnson isn't nearly as good as Higgins. Thanks.

This is true, but at Vandy he had the opportunity to play early. Also his team mate committed to them and it gave him another reason to go there besides the Vandy sales pitch of a great education. Last this kid is not of the Tee Higgins magnitude but is a really good athlete who can play.

They were not recruiting him all that hard. Pretty obvious from the consistent comments from the mods on VQ over the last several months, not weeks.

That's an odd pick. I can see why a RB would want to go there, but a WR? They haven't had a decent QB in a while. Their passing game is very inconsistent.

Shurmur lit us up last year, 400+ yards. He has shown the potential to really throw it. You're right about their passing game being inconsistent, but all they likely had to do with Johnson, who Tennessee clearly cooled on over the last few months, was flip on the video of our game last year to impress and sell him. And maybe he fell for the "great education" angle, which is a legit point.

That was like the game of his life though. He only really had two good games last season, against UT and Ole Miss. Other than that, he was garbage. Even with those two games factored in, he still only completed 54% of his passes for 2400 yards 9 TDs and 10 INTs
