During the Under Armour All-American check-in, Dent, the nation's No. 28 overall prospect, stated his commitment to FSU remains “strong,” and yet, “I’m looking. I might surprise a lot a people.” Meaning what exactly?
“How January might unfold,” he said. “I don’t know what to expect myself. I might surprise myself.”
Dent has been committed to the Seminoles since July 2017 and one of the coaches he gave that verbal pledge to is now on Tennessee’s staff. Charles Kelly went to see the South Florida native three times in December and the Palm Beach Central defensive back said Tennessee is one of the schools “coming the hardest right now.”
“Them, Florida, Miami, Auburn, them are the schools coming the hardest right now,” Dent said.
“Tennessee, It’s a good school. I’ve always been hearing about Tennessee. I have to look into that. I have a good relationship with coach Kelly.”
Dent noted that Kelly has a longstanding personal relationship with his mom, so unlike some other college coaches, what Tennessee’s safeties coach says is “genuine.”
Tennessee’s pitch to the 5-star cornerback is rather straightforward: “Come in and play.”
The Vols are pushing for an OV in January and Dent says they will get heavy consideration. The 5-star also expects to host head coach Jeremy Pruitt in-home next month.
