'19 FL TE Keon Zipperer

That would get us to an actual 2 deep of good sized TE's for one year. They tried to sign 3 last year too. Right now there is maybe 1 on the roster and he only has 2 years left. They want to run a lot of 2 TE sets with big TE's. Butch left us with zero of those. After this season, assuming DWA comes back for another year we will have him and whoever we sign in 19. So to answer yer question, I think they want more than they have so far. Especially considering we have 2 committed and are still actively recruiting more in this class.

butch left plenty of holes, and not just at TE. pretty much every spot is a need and two TE is a good sized class there. 3 tells me at least 1 transfers/drops out.

So you don't want to have a 2 deep at TE if possible. We need to sign 3 to have a legit 2 deep next year. We have a 1 deep this year. Barely.

I believe Louder was more concerned with using a scholarship on a third TE who will likely leave after one year. The staff may feel that it is necessary, but that would mean that none of the five scholarship TEs on the roster (other than DWA) can develop enough between now and next August to beat out a true Freshman.

Additionally, compare the #3 c/o 2019 TE with a guy like Jacob Warren. How many meaningful snaps will a 4th TE get? Is the upgrade (if any) compared to the number of snaps worth using a scholarship and only getting one year out of the guy?

If the coaching staff feels that they need three this cycle, I'm all for it. They know these guys better than I do. But, I can sympathize with Louder that it is a risky move at face value.

I get it. I'm just going by what the staff has said about wanting to have bigger TE's and wanting to play 2 or even 3 at a time a lot in addition to the fact that they are still actively recruiting the position this year and next even though they have 2 already committed. They tried to sign 3 last year and appear to want to sign 3 this year. Some people don't seem to think they will sign 3. I was just stating my opinion that based on all of the above actions and words from the coaches, that I would be shocked if we signed less than 3.

Edit: Additionally, 1 of the 2 they signed last year will have to bulk up quite a bit and the other is a juco with only 2 years left. I do not think the coaches feel comfortable with the depth at that position yet.

we will have more than 1 TE returning next year. As I see we should have 5, plus whatever that DWAdoes. just because they aren't what Pruitt is looking for doesn't mean they aren't bodies.

Wolf R-jR (2018),Pope (RS-so), Bumphus (so), Brown (so), Warren (FR), DWA (RS-SO- can't remember if he is a 3 or 2 year guy)

taking 3 turns us into a 4 deep, not 2, even 2 leaves us with 7 at least

I'm talking about a 2 deep of guys that meet the coaches size requirements. Bumphus is the only other one right now. And as I stated before my opinion is based on the words and actions of the coaches. You may not agree with them but they appear to want 3 this class.

If he wants to be a Vol he will be. We won’t pass on this guy. That being said, as of right now, there’s not much to it.

So, ATL Vol / RPP / Marker / Caleb all seem to either be insiders or have friends who know things.

Hint Hint : watch for things they post.

Seems a little short to be a TE. Maybe he thinks his future in the NFL is at fullback? I’m reaching. Not sure that we have much of a shot otherwise

Not many fullbacks in the NFL. You have to be able to play TE to make that roster

Yeah I don't think there's much to it with this guy. But we are actively recruiting the DE that's committed to FSU as a TE. And possibly the kid from Memphis. It doesn't seem to me that they will stop at 2. What are yer thoughts on that.

or they are just making sure they don't get left alone at the altar or are looking to upgrade

TE (Y): Bumphus (SO), DWA (RS-SO)

TE (H): Wolf (R-JR), Pope (RS-SO), Brown (SO), Warren (FR)

Glaring need for Ys.

and ten offensive linemen, at least 15 DL, 7 dbs, 2 QBs, 1 RB maybe, 4 WR, 4 LB.

Maybe but I never said that. Just noticed that they appear to want more than 2 tight ends in this class. Not sure why that is hard to believe.
