19' VA OG William Pritchard

That’s how “I squatted 600 in high school” becomes “I squatted 400 in college”

More stress on patellar tendon slightly above parallel vs. below. Folks don’t realize a parallel squat is safer if your mobility isn’t an issue and you go into spinal flexion

You have to have the embedded link for it to work. Whenever you copy a gif from Giphy on your cellphone now it gives you the web link. I’ve tried several times to find the embedded link from Giphy on mobile, but can’t find it. You’ll have to do it from your laptop and use the .gif link.

Been 7 months since I ruptured both quads and patellar tendons.Doc still wont let me squat.😁.Its a damn shame when you can bench more than you can squat.

Ughh... I dread injury like that. I’ve just started to bench after an AC joint injury a year ago. Going very light and slow. Chest can handle heavy lifts otherwise but still a lil discomfort with Bench

Be careful. If I hadn't had the upper body strength I have and a little help from my wife I would have been screwed.I was non weight bearing for 11 weeks. It sucks.

Recently dialed back my reps till failure. I push hard, and can feel the connective tissue and joints starting to wear. Avoid injury at all costs. Slow progress beats injury 10/10

Had a squat goal for this year that is slowed by lower back / si joint. Just made the smart decision to drop it for a couple of months and change exercises to let it get back. Hack squats can keep my strength high and much easier on the back.

Probably miss my goal, but will remain injury free

Talked to William a little while ago. Really enjoyed himself. Loved Knoxville. Spent one day touring campus, watching film, hanging with coaches and then worked out for the staff yesterday morning.

Will have a story to come. Tennessee a real factor but he's keeping a very open mind until he finishes taking visits. Illinois was his first Power 5 offer and Lovie has been on him pretty good recently. Learned today that he has a sister that goes to Va. Tech. He has OVs upcoming to Illinois and Syracuse. Set for a July 1 announcement.

“The visit was awesome,” Pritchard told VolQuest. “I got to spend some time with the coaches, I got to workout for one of their camp days, I toured the facilities, talked with all the coaches and watched some film. It was great. They definitely see me as a center,” Pritchard said. “That’s my natural position, but I haven’t played it the last two years of high school but my head coach is talking about moving me back to center for my senior season.”

Pritchard worked out for the entire offensive staff on Saturday morning, going through a 1-on-1 combine and learning some basic calls in Tennessee’s scheme. He worked exclusively at center, with Friend closely watching every rep. “It put the pressure on. It was exciting,” he said. “It was something that I looked forward to doing. I went out there and just tried not to think about the pressure and do what I do every single day.”

After the workout, Pritchard talked with Friend for a while and briefly met head coach Jeremy Pruitt. “He couldn’t talk too long because the New York Jets head coach (Todd Bowles) was there so he had to run real quick, but he explained how he loved how I was physical and nasty on film,” Pritchard said. “We’re getting on the phone together to talk on Friday.”

Where does that leave the Vols? The atmosphere on campus was awesome. The coaching staff was welcoming. Everybody in the football building all had something nice to say,” he said. “I really felt welcomed there.”

Pritchard said he's deciding on or before July 1st.
