That we were not disappointed in losing a recruit to another school. Marlon Brown, Lamar Dawson, Gabe Wright, Vonn Bell, and even Eddie Lacy are a few that stung. But, now we have a new Sheriff in town and the days of poaching recruits from us are over on the Hill. CBJ has done a terrific job recruiting, and now we all can anticipate Camp in August. I just can't get enough of this stuff man.

All I know is I would pay a month's salary to watch live the first circle of life drill between Richmond and McKenzie

Von Bell was most painful for me. Felt sick.

We never had Von Bell. He was never once committed to us. He had been committed to Ohio State the whole time and there were rumors that he'd flip on signing day, which of course he didn't.

I don't get the Von Bell one either. Sure there were plenty of "insiders" saying he was all Vol but he just wanted to keep it quite, but there was nothing else. He was never a Vol and it just proved how some on here will throw anything out and hope it sticks just to try to claim "insider" status.

Von Bell is all on Dooley. He grew up a Vol fan and Dooley never visited his high school before it was way too late.

Cadillac Williams was the most disappointing for me, although he flipped earlier in the process.

Confession: I never even knew about Von Bell. Hell I never even knew Dooley actually broke his hip or whatever. I always thought that photo of Dooley with crutches shaking hands with Saban was a photoshop. I thought "There is no way in hell Tennessee could stoop that low" when I would see it. I'd actually get a kick out of it. And then I saw the stool. I thought wait a second this is a really elaborate photoshop meme. Then I googled Derek Dooley and saw he injured his hip that year and my jaw hit the floor. It was all true. Derek Dooley was literally the worst head coach in the history of Tennessee football and I missed like 90% of it. Thank the LORD!

tl;dr I was away from TN football for most of the Dooley years (for work) and thought all those pics of Dooley with crutches was an elaborate photoshop ruse. Also, who is Von Bell?

I think a lot of that had to do when Dooley was here. Butch had just taken over the UT program. If Butch had a year to work on Von Bell he would of been a Vol.

No, he never announced a commitment to anyone before signing day (and according to him, he just decided the night before).

Most of the pundits thought it was a TN/Alabama race and, right before signing day, most were saying that TN was going to get him.

Santos and Wright for me. I thought Bell was possible because he grew up watching the Vols but never felt as if we "had him".

I agree, but I was actually mad to the point it hurt when Gabe Wright did what he did to us. Dawson sucked too...

I remember Dawson and Timmy Jernigan visited on the last weekend that year. Jernigan was at a time when we were in desperate needs of good DT's. When the hype wore off, he went with his heart. I remember everyone getting all excited only for him to sign with FSU.

if you remember he didnt have but 6 weeks, he flipped Dobbs at the end, if he had took over at the season ends instead of having to wait on little lanny boy running of with papa in the middle of the night who know 4 or 5 more top recruits.:eek:hmy:
