I don't know if you're seeing it the same as me, but this Indiana offense looks a LOT like the Tennesse no-huddle spread offense the last couple of years. Only difference is, we could run better, and their QB is hitting the mid-distance passes better. But the look and feel is very similar.
Bottom line is, we had with DeBord what Indiana has with DeBord, our players' particular talents and their players' particular talents are just a little different.
Peterman leaves UT and turns into a pretty darn good qb... a pretty impressive NFL preseason game tonight for the Bills.
DeBord's IU offense looked great that first drive against the 2nd ranked team.
Am I off in wondering where this was in Knoxville?
The motion and formations are certainly familiar. I'm just trying to remember the last time we had such an impressive opening drive against a highly ranked opponent
Yeah. We actually looked that good in the early game most of the time in 2015. It was our 2nd half that sucked.
Last year, 2016 was just the opposite. No first half success, then came on in the 2nd.
But the good news on our side: we have at least had more run/pass balance. Indiana not having ANY success on the ground yet.
That was pretty cool. Same pass play twice in a row. First time, Lagow throws it back-shoulder, but the defender wasn't in front of the receiver. So the next time, Lagow puts a little more distance on it, and a little more touch, drops it right into his receiver's hands. This QB has a brain, as well as a nice arm and touch.
He reminds me a bit of the Johnson kid from BG a couple years ago.
