2 Years before NBA

right, they have even more of a guaranteed income. I just don't get why people think that they should stay in college. how is college going to help them in the nba? They are wasting money making years while in college. Just go back to college when you retire or wash out.

It is not a god given right to play in the NBA. They have every right to do what they think is best for their brand. If they believe it hurts their image to have a bunch of uneducated individuals playing for them then they have the right to address that. The NBA's image has suffered over the last 5 to 10 years because of the "hip hop culture" image it has come to be associated with. That is a big part of why viewers ratings are down.

All I know is, if I were an NBA prospect I would gather together as many other NBA prospects as possible and challenge this in court. I'm all about kids getting their degrees, but you should not be able to limit someone's access to a career based on age.

I understand that playing in the NBA is a privilege (not a right), and that kids could go overseas or something and play professionally if they didn't want to go to college. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see that start happening. If I were a foreign team, I'd actively recruit the cream of the high school crop and offer them millions to come play in my country.

It's mainly political in my opinion. The NCAA wants to wring every cent that they can out of these guys. Having players stay in college an extra year is going to do zero to change the culture of the nba. The nba pushed the street nature of basketball in the 90's and now it's coming back and burning them....oops.

While I understand where your coming from, i'm not sure that overseas basketball has a shot at rivaling the nba. There just isn't enough popularity overseas and the dollars that follow that popularity to compete.

My plan.

Eliminate the D-League.

Allow High Schoolers to Enter the NBA Draft.

Minimum 3 years in college if Player decides to attend school.

All High Schoolers drafted, 1st or 2nd round, will receive a guaranteed contract. This will eliminate NBA teams from taking an unready player based on "potential"

Those High Schoolers who enter and undrafted may attend and play the minimum 3 years in college.

I think this way the guys who are really ready to play out of high school, like Lebron, Amare, KG, will not be affected by the rule.

And those who entered and aren't ready still have the chance to go to college and better their game instead of bouncing around Europe and the minor leagues.

I agree that it's not as popular, but I'm not really talking of overseas basketball as a replacement for the NBA -- rather, it could be a replacement for college. If I'm good enough to play professionally (a la Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett), why not go to Italy and make a stack of money for two years while you wait on your NBA eligibility?

Talk about unintended consequences if that happened.

Didn't somone take the NFL to court to fight them over the 2 year of college. I think they lost.....So why do you think the courts would over turn the NBA's rule
