Isn't it funny how much of the talk coming into this season centered around how much better the overall defense would be this season since the team would be more athletic and quick now that Lofton was gone?

As much as it pains me to say this, I would love to have Lofton playing defense right now. If nothing else, at least he tried.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, there's very little improvement. About the only thing that I can point to is Wayne finally getting some consistency and playing like a big guy.

Wayne played great last night, he'd be better if he'd get back on D instead of screaming and pounding his chest every time he scores

Average for the last 30 years was a 17-14 record, 3rd/4th in the East, and NIT bound. I'd be careful throwing around that this team is an "average" UT team. You could say its a below average Pearl team though.

Let's just avoid pulling the plug on the coach over one down/transition/rebuilding/disappointing year. This isn't the NBA.

I haven't seen anyone calling for Pearl's dismissal.

I have this feeling, but I can't figure out why I feel this way.

Why can't this team be like the 2006-2007 team, when we were extremely young, but improved drastically in March? I know it won't happen, but we're just as young and inexperienced as we were then, and more athletic now

Because back then the chaos was still organized, but it was being executed by young players. When the players got better, the team got better.

Organized chaos has been thrown out the window this year. It is just chaos. Improvement of individual parts will do little to improve the functionality of an unassembled machine.

That team had way more upside as the season went on, they actually brought intensity on both ends of the court, and they had leadership.
