2007 Vols Football Commitment List

Does anyone know how many commits we are going to be able to have for next year? I know last year was small but since we have 23 I believe right now how many more are we going to be able to take?

If they are a top shelf prospect we are going to take them. We will deal with the numbers later. I have seen estimates that we will take 30. We are allowed 25. That means we would need 5 players to either not qualify or greyshirt. I dont think that is a big hurdle. We will certainly have around 3 that have to go Prep or JUCO. That would mean we would only have like 2 that we have to convince to greyshirt.

Where are the OL prospects? Considering any juco O lineman? We need some depth!

We have enough young OL that we are not adding but 2 this class. We have bigger needs. You couldnt tell this year, but we have some very talented young OL. They just need experience.

I see a Scott Wells (I think that was his name) type of guy in the Freshman we had at Center this year. Sorry I am having a hard time thinking of names because I just got out of a meeting and my brain is tired.

If this class gets much better we will probably see some of the lower rated guys drop off the list.
When does the magic number count? beginning of the season? spring? How do non qualifiers figure in?

I don't think we can ever have more than 85 players on scholly. We won't go over because we will ask guys to greyshirt or pull scholly's from walkons.

Yeah, we gave quite a few walk-ons schollys this last season due to defections. They can pull those at any time. They gave Yancey one, pulled it at one point, and then gave it back again.

Frogg and Greene both have schollys that could be pulled.

BTW, look for Justin Sturns to be a sign-n-place player. 3-star RB out of Texas. Could blow up at the JUCO level once he gets his grades straight.

Coleman and Vereen are the big sleepers of the class.

Coleman is soon to jump out of sleeper status. Vereen may, but I don't think he will make as big a jump as BJ. Savion Frazier is a pretty big steal as well.
