I'd take my odds on Selby. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't want to pass up on a talent like that.

I'm 50/50. He may just be here for a year and he has the potential to lead us to something special, but there's also the risk of his mom blowing up and/or he gets playing for scouts instead of the team.

True. However if he does come here and leave after a year, I'd still think Tennessee would be okay the year after. It could hurt us, but in my own opinion, the potential would be worth it.

Selby is the type of player that could push us an extra round or two into the post-season and, even if he has a bad attitude or his family does, he would be gone after a year. Not so sure that Maymon will do either of those.

Maymon is a one and done.

True, but the question is what type of one and done. The Tony Passley version or the John Wall version?

my evaluation:
Pro's
Strong
Great Jumper
good ball handler
great at taking it to the basket
good midrange jumper
great confidence

Con's
not much defense
not much of a passer/assist guy
Me first attitude

my fear with him is that he is ME First rather than TEAM player, you do not win championship's with me first players see KY Cats 2010.

Hopefully, our lineup looks similar to this:

PG-Selby/Goins/Bone
SG-Tatum/Golden/McBee
SF-Hopson/McRae/Woolridge
PF-Harris/Maymon/Pearl
C-Williams/Hall

Woolridge may play the 4 and Maymon may play the 3. McRae may be the 3rd option at SF behind one of those two. Pearl may be the backup PF if Maymon nor Woolridge can fill that spot.

That's why you don't do evaluations based on All-Star games. They don't play defense at all or pass. It's a game of horse more than anything. All highlights and no real gameplay.

S Pearl will be in the lineup - if u leave him out you are just in a fantasy land! He was our 6th man this year in alot of games down the stretch. I wouldn't be shocked if daddy doesn't start him next year. I know he isn't a stat sheet stuffer (actually I'm not sure he even scratches the stat sheet surface) but he does play hard and that gets you so far in D1 (only at Tennessee does a player have such poor ability but play key minutes)...

If we can somehow hope he decides to quit b4 next season we will be fine. In alot of games he logged as many minutes as Tatum and Tatum is about 10,000 times the player.

Actually multiple evaluations of his game have stated that he is potentially a lock-down defender at the college level.

He was not the 6th man. Tatum was. He might be the first guy off the bench every once in awhile because of how foul trouble played out. And they only reason he was playing that much was out of necessity. If you think he is going to start next year you are delusional.
