It took until now for me to notice how many Miami area recruits we've gotten. I mean, I know we had gotten some... but it seems like 1/2 of our class is South Florida.

17 of 18 out of state...this is the best national recruiting staff in the country.

what happened to that wall we're supposed to be putting up around Tennessee tho? i'm not complaining by any means, as long as we get good players i don't care where they're from but still

You have to look at each instate player individually in order figure out how well we're doing with our fence. Remember, if Kiffin thinks he can get a better player from somewhere else, that's what he'll do.

Here is my view on each of the top 2010 players from TN (the rankings are from Rivals):

1 Jacques Smith - Ooltewah (TN) Ooltewah DE 6-3/225 Tennessee - he's all Vol

2 James Stone - Nashville (TN) Maplewood OL 6-5/297 Undecided - he had a bad showing at UT's camp. We're still after him, and aren't out of it yet. Stay tuned.

3 Barry Brunetti - Memphis (TN) MUS QB 6-0/207 West Virginia - He doesn't fit the scheme, so we never made him a priority. He's good a player, and I hope he does well at WVU.

4 Justin Maclin - Memphis (TN) Ridgeway DE 6-4/215 LSU - This is a big loss. But LSU has been after him for a while, and Kiffin & Co. were a little behind. His dad is close with RB coach Larry Porter.

5 Keiwone Malone - Memphis (TN) Mitchell WR 6-1/165Alabama - Memphis is so tough due to its proximity to other schools (Bama, Ole Miss, etc.). But on the upside, would you trade any of our '10 WR commits for Malone?

6 O.C. Brown Memphis (TN) Manassas OL 6-2/312 - Undecided - Phenomenal highlight real. Reportedly, UT never offered. He's a project, and there's some question over how well he would adjust to the next level. Also, Fulton looked a lot better at camp.

7 Harrison Jones Memphis (TN) Evangelical Christian School TE 6-4/230 Alabama - Bama lock, his brother Barrett plays for the Tide.

We also extended an offer to Rivals #16 player in TN, Quinton Alton from Memphis (TN) Hillcrest. He's a 6-6/245 TE. He's a project after only recently picking up football and needs to add some serious weight/strength.

Other than that, none of the other instate players received Vol offers. The thought is that they just aren't up to our talent level. They include players like: Ferlando Bohanna Memphis (TN) Whitehaven LB, Marc Gooch Murfreesboro (TN) Siegel WR 6-2/175, and Keith McBrideMemphis (TN) MUS RB 6-0/205.

Most schools get the majority of their players instate and then go out of state based on need. We just go after the top players from TN, but expect to get the majority of our signees elsewhere.

The only top in-state prospect I can think of that we wanted but didn't get is Justin Maclin, but it was pretty obvious a long time ago that he was going to LSU. You could put Brunetti in there too, but he wasn't someone we wanted the whole time, just since camps.

Lets face it, as long as Kiffin is pulling phenoms from out of state that can fulfill our needs on the team, who cares if the fence has holes in it. We got Smith and if we get Stone I'll be ecstatic. The only other guys I was interested from UT were Maclin and Malone. We have Irvin and Michael Taylor. We have Milton, Ambles, Meline, and maybe one more. I love our current commits and if Maclin picks Chavis over Monte then fine. If Malone picks Saban over Lane then fine. We have guys that maybe better than those two from out of state. LOVE IT!

Just in time for signing day, I finally caught up with all the commitments, decommitments, semi-decommitments, etc. :compute:

I moved the JC guys' pins to their hometown instead of where the JC was located. Also, I added a few pins for the top prospects that we still have left on the board. Let me know any corrections you have.
