2011 Draft order so far

Well, the Titans can take Carson Palmer when the Bengals cut him.

I don't see how the Panthers can justify taking two QBs last year and then spend another $50 million or so in guaranteed money on yet another QB.

Carson Palmer sucks.

Take Dareus or Peterson at #8.

As a Bronco fan, we've needed to address the D-Line for years. I love Peterson, but our DBs will never be effective without pressure. The problem is, I don't know which D-Lineman to take.

The Panthers are taking Luck if he comes out. Clausen is only getting paid second round money and was terribly inconsistent the entire year and Pike wasn't picked until the 6th round and has not shown much promise.

For sure, we have no pass rush. Hopefully when Dumervil is healthy next year that will help that, but Denver should take Fairley or Bowers. Not sure which would be better.

I mean he is still a rookie

I think if Luck does come out, the Panthers should consider trying to trade Clausen to a team that really needs a QB after this season like the Vikings. Might be able to get a few mid and lower picks for him

I've not really paid attention to Bowers. Fairley has a great motor and aggression (dirty), but it seems like much of his pressure comes from a swim move combined with great speed from a big man. I'm worried that won't translate well.

Also, we have to decide if we are sticking 3-4 or moving back to a 4-3. With so many good 4-3 D Lineman in this draft, I'd sort of want to go back. But I also feel like Ayers and Dumervil are better utilized in a 3-4.

I don't know, I'm torn. But we really need to build our defense from the Line back. And I think Champ is gone, and I hope he lands a place that can win him a ring. I wanted to trade him a year or two back, when I knew we wouldn't be a contender for a while (the 8-0 start was practically a fluke).

I agree that Doom and Ayers would be better in a 3-4. I'm not totally sold on Ayers yet though. He shows promise, but he certainly isn't up to par with the man that wore his number before him yet. And I want Champ to stay badly, but it doesn't look like it will happen. He is one of the very few bright spots the defense has. I would hate to see him go, but if he does, I hope he goes somewhere good.

If we were to trade down, I would really like Cameron Heyward. He's the perfect size for a 3-4 end and he's dominating right now with bull rushes and some nice moves. He might still be there in the second round. Bowers in the first and Heyward in the second would be my liking. I would really love to see us load up in the front 7 of the D as much as possible.

I watched Heyward in the Sugar Bowl last night and he looks like he would be really good. I know they won't spend every pick on defensive players, but we need all the help we can get on D.

If Vince Young threw as many passes per game as Carson Palmer, he would throw 20 picks a year.

VY: 156 passes, 3 picks, 1.92%
Palmer: 586 passes, 20 picks, 3.41%

With 586 passes, VY would throw 11.2 picks...not even close

Also, Palmer's passer rating is pretty much identical to Kerry Collins. Awesome.

ESPN is now reporting that Luck is staying at Stanford. Who goes #1 now?

Just saw ESPN - Tebow documentary; Jimmy Sexton put a green dot next to interested teams. The usual suspects emerged: Cleveland, Denver, Carolina. Then I saw NE. I love BB draft strategy.

Heres what I'm curious about, what happens if there actually is no season next year? Would the draft order stay the same for two straight drafts?

For anyone wondering if a lockout cancelled a draft:

However, a rookie salary cap agreement might happen prior to the draft since the union and owners are on the same page there. But one reason it might not happen, veterans are starting to come around to the high price rookies since they are using it to negotiate high deals for themselves. For instance, Eric Berry being the high paid safety is going to work out for the pro bowl safeties.

But the draft will certainly happen. And that's a good question about the draft order following a lock out season.
I would hate for the rich to get richer, if they reversed order, but Carolina going twice would not be fair either.

It's all got to come together in a new finalized CBA policy. If that's not reached, I'm fairly certain they're not allowed to reach sub-agreements and just put them into play yet.

Believe me though, the rookie pay scale isn't the issue that's holding these talks back
