Not sure about Rivals, but Scout has their's up already. A lot of these guys are in the top100. I hope to see a good turnout for Jr day and summer camps to get in on these guys as early as possible.

you really wont see the true top 250 until after the summer camps. They may have a list now, but the camp circuit goes a long way toward determining who the elite guys are.

Yeah, I saw that scout's initial ratings are out. This is my first full year following recruiting (started last October)...so I wasn't sure when Rivals ratings come out. Will there be an initial rating soon and then change multiple times throughout the year?

I haven't been a fan of scouts site compared to rivals.

Last year, the initial Rivals250 and star rating came out out in mid to late March. sometime around then. they will update it at least once in the summer (maybe twice), right before the season starts, mid-season, after the season, and lastly after the all-star games.

I will always judge guys by who has offered vs where they are on the Rivals list.

It depends on the position the kid plays and where the kid plays. Some QBs, especially later bloomers, may not have a ton of offers just because QB isn't a position you will load up on, ideally. Most big schools offer 3-4 QBs in a given class. A kid in a small Mississippi town likely won't get much press compared to a kid at a 6A school in metro Dallas. Not every recruiting staff leaves no stone unturned. Also, kids that go to camps will likely draw more offers than a kid that has already committed to his dream school and decided to concentrate on working out. If Eric Maclain was to only land another few offers, he would still be a top level prospect.

How can the state of Tennessee only have one player in the Rivals Top 100 and it be the strongest in state crop in years?

I think we have at least 2 that will finish up there and it isn't nearly as top heavy as usual. Last year had a handful of legitimate D1 players and then the bottom fell out. I don't think it's like that this year.

The way blur explained it to me is that it is not not as strong at the top as last year since Tiny and Jabriel will be the only 2 in the Rivals250 in '11 whereas Jacques, Stone, Maclin, Malone, Brunetti, and OC Brown were all in the orginal 250 in '10. Depth is where the '11 class is better.

Come to find out, Brown, Maclin, and Malone were all overrated and fell out of the 250. The '11 class is supposed to be much deeper with SEC caliber players and will have risers at the end of the year instead of fallers like '10.

I think Malone will be a player at bama and maclin could end up being a stud for lsu. The only overrated one was brown. There is a reason Malone and mac ended up in the sec and brown didn't.

Does anyone think Washington culd be another Marlon brown? Feasting on bad competition. His highlight tape is very similar and several of the same teams on the schedule.

They both fell out of the 250 is what I'm saying. I would love to Maclin but I don't think he is as good as originally advertised and I think Malone is vastly overrated jmo.

Agree (with LV) on Malone. Didn't really impress me. I think Maclin will be a beast though. Could be a little partial because I've known him, but he's huge. Maybe not an immediate impact type of guy, but he'll be a player at LSU for sure.

I don't understand the Marlon/Washington comparison at all. Different size, different skill set, completely different players. I can't speak from Washington's stand point, but a lot of the issues concerning Marlon revolve around coaching, or lack there of, that he received. Also got a raw deal concerning PT from GA in my opinion but whatever. Neither Washington nor Marlon can do anything about the competition they play against.

I have the opinion that Marlon was as good as advertised, but a lot of people gave him a tough time because his level of competition was awful, and when you look at Washington's schedule he played USJ, JCS, Middleton. His competition was a little better with Union City & Mckenzie, but not much. I just am surprised people haven't brought up his level of comp, like they did with Marlon.

Watching Washington on video it is obvious he is more talented than everyone on the field, just like Marlon. Sometimes playing weak competition hurts the transfer to the college game.

Just trying to get someone's opinion with maybe more inside info on Washington. I think his offer list, as did Marlon's, speaks for itself. Then again, Todd Cox had an impressive offer list as well.

Malone single handily got his team to the state semi-finals and almost won that game by himself. I think he could end up being a stud. I know they dropped out of the 250, but we probably all still in the Top 300. I even think OC could end up being a player in college with coaching and a S&C program. A friend of mine coached against his team in a scrimmage a last season and said he was an absolute animal, who had no clue what he was doing.

I talent level of Washington's opponents doesn't really matter anymore. Jabriel has been on the camp circuit against the best of the best for a while now.

if he doesnt go to UT everyone will bring up his level of competition, dont worry.
