2012-13 UT Basketball Schedule Released

Relax a bit. Geesh. You should take some of your own advice some times and get some thicker skin.

I didn't say Vandy would beat UT. And I fully expect UT will win that game. But to say as you have that the game shouldn't even be close and that losing at Vanderbilt will make the season unsuccesful is just too much. I do agree we should beat them, but it's just not the "chalk it up win" you want it to be. None of the road games are.

Well I'm chalking it up, if I can't chalk it up we shouldn't chalk up Kennesaw state, they're probably comparable. And as I said, technically it's a toss up after the AP debacle at home.

I'm counting it as a W, if they lose it'll come back to bite me I'm sure. However, a loss doesn't make the season a failure, i just think its likely if we can't beat vandy at their place this team hasn't reached its full potential, that's all.

Zo made Anderson look real bad last year, I expect the same.

If we lose to vandy, I don't care where it is played, we aren't having a succesful year.

I was just working off this statement. Go ahead and start splitting hairs.

Read the above quote, if they lose to vandy i don't think they've reached their full potential, which could also be said as not successful. Once again it's JUST MY OPINION.

This is all pointless anyways because they're gonna wax vandy.

The schedule is very favorable for a team that should make the tournament. Lots of chances to boost our rpi and our seeding.

Well, I do think they will beat Vandy this year, but looking at how we faired last year, we really didn't wax anyone all year. Every game was close, so I'm in the wait and see mode to know if they are good enough to crush teams. I'm just hoping they have learned enough with the second half of the SEC last year to consistantly put teams away. Crushing teams is a whole new level.

That Arkansas game at TBA was an a$$ whooping from the opening tip.

I think we blow some teams out. I don't think we see anything like we did early in the season last year. The Georgetown game will grow this team up in a hurry IMO.

You know much on Georgetown? I've looked and haven't seen either georgetown or Virginia in any preseason top 25's.

Nc State, if it happens, will be a great early season test.

I wouldn't be so quick to put a W by Witchita State. Gregg Marshall should have gotten the UT job on at least 2 different occassions. Most definately when they hired Buzz. (He was the runner-up) He has built WSU into a nice program. Made tourney last year. HOw this guy hasn't gotten a top level job is beyond me. He has won everywhere he's been.

Agree with everything you say, however Wichita state lost ALOT off of last years squad. Probably will have trouble making the tourney this year.

They're losing their top 5 scorers, aren't they?

I'm with you on Marshall. I'm convinced there has to be some behind-the-scenes problem, because he would be great at a high major program.

Garrett Stutz returns for the Shockers. I've I'm not mistaken, the 7 footer lead the team in points and rebounds last season. They lost a bit but will be plenty tough.

Ole Miss is my sleeper team this year. They have a ton of depth in the backcourt and one of the best front courts in America. I can't believe I'm even hyping them up. They'll be tough and should beat a bunch of teams this year.

^Ragland was the leading scorer and he's gone fwiw.

kenneddy has never made a tourney iirc and has had more talented teams than this. I'll never pick them to do anything until they actually prove they can.

I don't think they are picked to do anything this year but they should be better than last years team. I think they lost their big man but Hollis Thompson is a force and could be an All American. Porter is a pretty special player too. They beat Memphis at the Maui, Alabama and Louisville on the road and beat Uconn, Notre Dame, and a struggling Pitt team in the tourney last season. The atmosphere will be pretty amazing there so I think it's going to be a really tough test, especially it being the first true road game of the season. Their defense will likely be one of the best in the country. I can't wait for this game!!!

Kennedy seems to be cursed to Dooley proportions. I'm not at all convinced he's a bad coach, but every time they look like they're about to be good, all their guards tear ACLs or transfer. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them take one off us this year. Would be a bit surprised if they take two.

Very rare for conference games. Usually CBS has one premier SEC game on the last Sunday of SEC play. It's usually Kentucky vs someone (florida last year I think). Anyway, the guys play on Saturday and the girls on Sunday, usually. It's just odd and it stood out to me.

Tennessee has played UK on Sunday at noon for the last several years, while the other game with UK has generally been the Tuesday night ESPN game.

If thats the case then Gtown vs UT game could be in the 40's if the refs "let em play". Both teams will play some very physical defense. Points will be hard to come by.

They didn't this year, it was the Saturday after losing to Miss ST on a Thirsday night.

In 09-10 and 10-11 they played UK on Sunday in the last day of the conference season. Maybe we are arguing the same thing, I don't know. Sec games are usually Saturday. Except the last weekend of the season, when CBS picks one game and puts it on Sunday. It's usually UK since they have a huge following. In 2010 and 2011 that game was against UT because Calipari vs Pearl was to good to pass up. This year it was UK vs Florida. Without looking, my bet is its UK vs Florida again. And if not that game then maybe UK vs Mizzou.

Hollis Thompson is with the Thunder. Otto Porter is a pretty good one from Georgetown, though.

Looks like maybe the SEC tourney starting on Wednesday has ended the tradition of the CBS Sunday finale. UT vs SoCar is the only Sunday conference game all season. SEC
