I went to it. My Gf liked it. I hated it. Since I am a vols fan and she is a Ga fan I think everyone else will hate it as well.

Saw a documentary on an air force study from the late 40's. Presented as fact that the poles in theory could flip. Guess when? When asked to confirm the air force would neither confirm nor Deny the report. In essence magnetic north was continuing on a path to geographic north. Where able to make the calculation from as far back as 1400's for maritime logs. It essensually said that at the time, magnetic north was 200 miles closer than at the time of the first records. Does anyone think they stopped the study?

History channel, TLC, or NGC.

The magnetic poles do move around and that's no secret. That's why on maps the magnetic declination is given for the time it was made, and the map is actually oriented relative to geographical north.

And yes, the poles do periodically flip and we are due. But the idea of that triggering earthquakes and massive tidal waves higher than the Tibetan plateau is ludicrous. It may affect some electronics and will force us to retool our navigation technologies, but an apocalypse that is not.

I beleive they have evidence to point to 18 know times that it has. This movie probably stretches the effects. but any thing that can flash freeze woolly Mammoths and the buttercup Flora in there stomachs is a force to be reckoned with. Tenn. to the north pole in mere Minutes. To much science out there to take such a minimalistic view. If between what you propose and what the movie does there exist a scale from 1 - 10. The number would be between 3 and 7.

I doubt that we're going to see "2012" nominated for any awards, unless it's from a show on G4, and even then John Cusack doesn't stand a chance against blue aliens and floating rocks.
