2012 PAC-12 Championship Game: #18 UCLA v #8 Stanford II - "This Time, It's Personal"

That was genius! IF you have never played football, throwing it over handed like a QB is hard, chest pass is easy and the ball travels much straighter and true. Genius. Hope the kids doing this tomorrow in Atlanta were paying attention.

I think the trivia question for this game should have been "when was the last time (the same) two teams played each other in back to back weeks?"

(I'm sure it has to have happened before now; just have no idea when or who)

They said in the pregame its happened 3 times. I think the last time was Colorado State and Wyoming in like 1919. If I remember correctly.

Its probably why the SEC made the last week OOC rivals or in-division instate/border rival week. Just to prevent back to back rematch in SECCG.

or probably some tradition-related stuff with those 3-4 teams that have someone they always play this late in the season, or possibly have done so for the length of their traditional, same-state rivalries

24 all, and the Stanford team and what's here of this fan base have come alive in this last quarter

...you don't do the "goodbye / time to go home" key jingle when your team's only up 3 with over 6 minutes left

should've ran and gave UCLA the ball with 1:30 left.

considering they could have pretty much ended the game right there had they gotten a first down, it was the right call

especially with UCLA needing to go most of the field and having no timeouts

Not gonna blame the kicker for that. Terrible snap. Long field goals like that require proper timing and you could tell his was thrown off by that snap.

That does it. 27-24 Final.

The win will put Stanford in the Rose Bowl to play the winner of tomorrow's Nebraska/Wisconsin game.

Meanwhile, UCLA will fall to the Holiday Bowl, to play...I think they have 3rd in the conference selection? So someone like an Oklahoma State or a Texas Tech probably...or the bruins may even fall as far as the Alamo Bowl

Weather (having a wet ball) certainly doesn't make that part any easier either

Great game Stanford way to pack that 50,000 seat stadium with 18,000 fans. Tickets sell were 31,000 but there wasn't near that many people there. Embarrassing for the Pac 12 regardless of weather. I would like to see Shaw come east and coach some real football.

To be fair, the game started at 5:00 Pacific on a Friday night right at the start of rush hour. I know they do this to avoid competing with SEC/B1G title games, but I don't think I'm speaking alone in saying I'd be fine with a later start time. However, still no excuse for not filling that place up a bit more.
