Not disagreeing with you completely on CP and, this may have been before your time, but Carl Pickens was every bit as electric on offense and KR and he dabbled at DB as well.

It's close but I still think I like Pickens better.

You're right it's close but I would take Patterson over Pickens as a kick returner anyway. Don't remember why but according to his stats Pickens only returned 9 kickoffs his last two seasons. As a pure returner Willie Gault would have to be considered the best to ever play at Tennessee.

I guess he was rated purely as a receiver but dude was a 5 star once he had the ball in his hands that's for sure. It sure would have been awesome to see him more then one year and develop as a receiver.

I really feel bad for Pearson if anyone actually expects him to be CP with the ball in his hands. VP may be good but CP was well CP.

No way would anyone argue with your avatar.

There had been little to no coaching on the hill since 2010, basically till Dooley and his goobers left. The way the players talk they basically did nothing in the weight room and barely participated in other activities.

Some of those kids would have really flourished under this new staff; its quite sad.

We took a bunch of high risk low reward guys (save for CP of course) because they were easy to get and Dooley didn't have to work hard to get them. No matter how you look at it 8-9 of the players that have already left the program contributed very little. That makes for a very bad class.

I'm sorry but I only see 4 maybe 5 players that will likely contribute this year with only 2 of them being starters.

Here I was thinking we were looking for Diamonds in the rough :). Looks like all we got was the rough end of the deal. You'll find a lot of these guys MAY HAVE BEEN recruited after Dooley quit trying to recruit when his seat was hot.

Dooley thought he would win in the SEC from stealing recruits from East Carolina Gardner Webb.. What a bad nightmare

Talk about hope against hope. The Dooley years.....hard to believe we still had a few fans that thought he just needed a little more time. Once Sirmon and Wilcox left recruiting was DOA. Just glad it's over.

This class didn't pan out. No doubt about that. However, keep in mind that while Dooley and Co were supposed to be out recruiting, he was trying to replace 7 of his 9 assistants who jumped ship. Butch hasn't had to deal woth that. He's had all coaches out in full force. With the limited time Dooley had to recruit this class, it appeared we locked up some good guys. Call it bad luck or crappy cicrcumstances, but sometimes things don't work out.... Just my two cents.

They jumped ship because they knew Dooley was the titanic. Can't give him a pass on that one. He was the reason they left.

Every "normal" class has attrition and guys who don't pan out. The 2012 class was far from "normal".....it looks like 3 seasons later, the class known for not having even a single O lineman among its ranks, is also gonna be known for having only 2 of it's 22 original members contribute meaningfully to the 2014 team.

Not surprising with all the coaching turmoil. The sooner Butch's guys are playing most of the 2 deep positions the better off UT will be, sorry to say that for the older kids
