So basically, we can either end atlantis ranked, or have no shot at the tourney again by then pretty much if the committee is just like this year.

I'm excited already. That'll be a hell of a tournament. Lots of chances for good wins in that tournament as well as in the OOC regular season.

I hate this 'next year' thing with UT athletics lately, but we will truly be filthy next year.

Is it November yet? :)

Drop all of them and schedule Sun Belt bottom feeders on the road for that sweet, sweet RPI boost.

Nah, looking forward to that tourney. Another great field for it. That "4" in the name is still horrible though.

We won't be playing Georgetown next year. We will play home vs. Virginia, at Wichita State and home vs. Xavier I'm pretty sure. Add in the battle for Atlantis, I'm hoping we don't play any of the +300 teams, +200 teams are fine, do that and our SOS should be very good.

I know my tune should change based on yesterday and all, but another thing I really praise Pearl for is scheduling. I'd still rather play good OOC games, because pre-Pearl the pre-SEC games usually sucked, especially under Peterson (and he still lost them).

I know we weren't rewarded for it this year but I still like playing games that matter more.

Anyone know how the Battle for Atlantis became the premier tournament seemingly overnight? Venue? Do they pay more?

Maybe I should say one of the premier but that is a heckuva field

Schedule all your non conference road games with extremely weak sisters. Schedule your home non conference schedule with stronger opponents. Win the games you should win within your conference, waltz into the NCAA tournament.

Maybe it’s just me, and I know UT controlled its own destiny, and blew it. But the resume was still stronger than many other teams who got in. As good as MTSU is this year, do you really believe they’d hold up as well with the same schedule UT played last year? I don’t believe they’d even get a sniff.

Plus, all these teams that play in nothing leagues that get automatic bids as conference champs or conference tourney champs, that’s a joke and it needs to change. I live in Dayton, have Flyers season tickets, hence tickets to the play in games and some good first rounders. The play in games hold absolutely no interest this year.

Xavier at home two years in a row?

I wish we would schedule a game at a mid major in state like Pearl always did. At MTSU, Belmont, Chattanoga? just so we can get a road win and plus get some experience before SEC play.

Sounds good. However, all big name programs are gonna require a home and home series which would eliminate the idea of playing the good teams at home.

Don't get too giddy. Still no point guard. Guard play typically determines success come March. See Bama game as an example.

Not really interested in anyone at Atlantis but Nova, Kansas, and State. Beating one of the latter 2 would send a nice preseason message about Tennessee though.

Clearly it doesn't matter if you beat the good teams or not. Just don't lose to bad ones and we'll be in the tourney next year.
