Who really knows what the 2014 schedule will look like? The SEC will probably change some things up for a more permanent schedule with a 14-team league. We do open with UTC at home and play Sept. 13 at Oklahoma in 2014.

Oklahoma? ****. We must love guaranteed losses.

The talent level isnt even close.

We know this exactly how? Who did we lose off of last years roster? Thomas? That means our back ups played last year too. Can you show me the plays where you could tell a noticable difference in the line when a backup was playing vice a starter?

How are you basing your opinion on talent for the guys that were redshirted last year?

Really not trying to bash your opinion. Just trying to figure out where you are getting it from.

Look at the players individually. The 2nd team O-line does not have the same size, athleticism, agility, experience that the first team does. That's not a knock on them because the 1st team is GREAT. But weve always known this.

Not disputing that there is a difference. Just thinking that the "not even close" statement might be askew. Every football team in the country has a second string. Most of those second stringers eventually become starters.

Are our second stringers AS GOOD as our starters, I don't think so. Will they be as good.....who knows.

UT lost all of their production this year. While they will lose basically the entire O-line in 2014, I'm not sure if that's not easier to replace than pretty much all of your skill players.

The Vols will lose some of the defense next year, but how many can be considered huge losses?

Sorry, I gotta disagree with you. If Jones truly coaches a solid offensive system, then '14 ought to be a significant step up from '13.

Stop liking his posts! If you happen to agree with the bammer just keep it to yourself.

You surely jest. The 5th year of his tenure? If 2017 is the year, it'll be somebody else's team.

Btw please do elaborate

It will take Jones 4 years to have all his players in place. If Jones is the coach many think he is 2017 should be his year.....and yes we should see a great deal of improvement year to year, but don't forget where we are....at the very bottom of the SEC....enough said

Just wait until next year! Next year rolls around... Just wait until next year! Next year rolls around... Just wait until next year! Next year rolls around... Just wait until next year!

The Vols have been really bad the last 3 years! Even as bad as they were last year they still nearly beat Georgia, S.Carolina and Mizzou! Had things just went there way in one of those games they would have went to A bowl game! Better coaching should produce atleast another win or 2 this year.

If he's the coach we hope and need him to be there's no way it takes 5 years to get us competing at a very high or potentially championship level. His first year at Cincy, which was a rebuilding situation, he won 4 games... Year 2 he won 10... and he didn't have all his players in yet last year when the team won 10 again.

I'm one who cautions for patience cause Dooley left him a personnel mess and he has no experience at QB and WR. But he doesn't have 5 years to get this turned around... year 3 will be the test or the long knives will come out for him.

Also, we aren't at the very bottom.... Auburn and Kentucky are currently. Just sayin.

I agree Butch already has this team improved over last year. Our problems here is not talent as much as it was confidence. If we can get that confidence, Butch's proven ability to coach should have us competing in year 4 without injuries.

Unfortunately the Vols will have many growing pains over the next 3 years, it's quite possible that we have 2-3 more losing seasons before we get things turned around. I've said several times that patience will be the order of the day for the near future. I do think if recruiting continues to improve we will be able to compete by Jones 4th year as HC.....providing he's still around in 4 years.

4 years? Im not that patient, sorry. With that said, im looking at 7-5 this year and maybe 8-4 in '14 if he's our guy. We've got talent, let's just hope we have the coaches. I like what he's done so far.

Sorry, no.... we don't have the talent currently at the skill positions!
