2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

Let's not be silly. They made it, they just don't count. The kids earned it with their play. The coach got it vacated.

Those kids didn't earn it. Some of the most prominent ones were just as guilty as Cal. They both cheated. Derrick Rose specifically.

LOL now don't go overboard.

Memphis is pretty well-known nationwide. A lot of it isn't for all the right reasons, though.

I did mention that football is alot to do with that. Yes Memphis more nationally known in basketball than the Golden Eagles. However I bet USM upsets them in basketball this season.

Here are the programs that I consider "Final Four programs" at the present.

Duke: 4 in one Decade
1999
2001
2004
2010

Michigan State: 6 in one Decade
1999
2000
2001
2005
2009
2010

UNC: 5 in one Decade
1998
2000
2005
2008
2009

Kansas: 4 in one Decade
2002
2003
2008
2012

Kentucky: 4 in a little over a decade
1997
1998
2011
2012

UCLA: 3 in 3 years
2006
2007
2008

Florida: 4 in a little over a decade
1994
2000
2006
2007

UConn: 4 in a decade
1999
2004
2009
2011

These are final four programs. Memphis has 3 final fours in 35 years. Two of which were vacated for violations. Memphis is not a final four program.

A side note to this post... Tom Izzo has never gone more than 4 years without a final four appearance. That means if you sign with Michigan State you are pretty much guaranteed to get there. Very impressive to think about. inb4 UT IE.

No Florida? 1994, 2000, 2006, 2007.

Fwiw galilee says obviosuly Memphis is turning up the heat, but CCM will end things next weekend.

Let me add something...this will turn into a HUGE pull for CCM...I mean obviously it'll be huge, but this Is what I mean...it was long thought that Memphis wasn't pushing for him, they'd gave up and it was clear both parties went their own ways....

Memphis and Pastner are trying everything they can, they dedicated a midnight madness to him...they have done everything they possibly can to turn Nichols to Memphis. Sure he's a private school kid, but pulling Nichols from Memphis when they're trying everything to get him...that's an accomplishment. That will say a lot, that will say CCM has busted down the Memphis walls and is taking Memphis kids that pastner desperately wants.

Let the pipeline flow.

I had Kansas but not Uconn. Thanks man. I just threw the list together off the top of my head.,

It was well done. Just adding a few others that seem to fit the bill. I think the point is obvious though. Memphis is not a FF program.

Izzo is an amazing coach... Cal gets all the attention, but I'd say Izzo is the best in the game.

In the early 90s I went to a sports bar in San Diego on a Sunday to watch a meaningless college basketball game between Tennessee and Florida. The bar was packed with Tennessee and Florida fans to watch a game between 2 avg basketball teams. Tennessee was coached by Wade Houston and Lon Kruger was Florida HC. I was amazed that such a game could draw a packed house when it was virtually meaningless. 2 weeks later I went to the same bar when Memphis played Cinc in an NCAA tourney game and the bar was virtually empty except for me. Thats what I mean about Memphis' perception nationally. They have none. But Vols-Gators meant something. I always remembered that and wanted to share it with everyone. Even Gator fans might enjoy knowing that.

Hey membjs since you apparently aren't gonna take my bet, why don't you text Austin and ask where he's headed to...

Post what you find out and I'll be able to tell real quick if you're BSing...cause I can tell ya exactly where he's headed.
