So a bit of an update to kind of summarize the last week or so...

Austin Nichols:
Tennessee appears to be in the top 3 for Nichols. Rob Lewis says Tennessee is in "very good shape" right now. He plans to sign in the spring. He will officially visit Tennessee in the fall.

Robert Hubbs:
Hubbs listed a top 2 of Tennessee and Duke this week. He will also officially visit in the fall.

Jonothan Williams lll:
Tennessee is still right in the thick of things with JW3 and will get an official visit according to Rob Lewis.

Nick King:
King shocked us all with a final 4 of Vandy, Tennessee, Memphis, and Texas this evening. He hadnt mentioned tennessee since cutting his list to 6, which didn't include the Vols. He will officially visit Knoxville in the fall as well.

Markel Crawford:
Crawford still has Tennessee in his top 2 with Florida and is planning on visiting Tennessee once again in the fall.

Sindarius Thornwell:
Hard to get a read on a list for thornwell, but Tennessee still appears in the mix. Thornwell said recently he's planning on making a trip to Tennessee very soon.

Love it. Looking like a really good class.

I just really want a center.

This. The only thing I'm thinking is CCM feels confident that jarnell is going to return and thus isn't overly worried.

Have Nichols for the 14' season and bring in a juco if you need to, by then yemi hopefully will be a sold starter as well.

Even then you are somewhat thing with only one true center in Yemi. And maybe Jarnell has committed for two more years.

That where I'm saying bring in a juco. You lose stokes after junior year, you'll have Nichols and yemi, so bring in a juco C. Not ideal, but If it means we take king or jw3 this year instead of a C I'll take it.

Oh yes, you don't turn down that talent.

The best thing is either Reese or Chevious transfers, which frees up a scholly for this year.

Preferably Reese, I feel like chievous can contribute.

On another note, maybe the big is Edwards. It was reported by rob Lewis that UT wants him, that'd make sense. Somewhat of a project, but a 7+footer from Memphis witha year or 2 to learn at a position of need makes sense.

If Stokes stays, and we Nichols/JWIII, then it's not as big of a deal to get a guy to come in immediately. I like Yemi. He seems like a steal (what a great job by CCM by the way), but I'm definitely not 100% sold on him being a 30 minute a game guy by 2013.

I think our eggs are in the stokes stays basket as far as bigs go. If he leaves well just have to roll with it, but Edwards isnt an immediate guy, and unless we pull Agau r Rimmer, not many freshman center were in on can contribute immediately. Maybe we go juco C if stokes leaves next year.

I think he stays though. That'll let us bring in Landry, a big, and 2 wings, and not leave us too thin in the post going forward. Hopefully Reese leaves and we can add another big or wing, whichever is more talented.

I like that plan. See if you can get a good high school center. If not, hope Stokes stays or get a JUCO.

I think he stays, that's my hope atleast.

Ideally Reese parts ways stokes returns and we sign a class of...

Landry
Hubbs
King/jw3/thornwell/Crawford
Nichols
Agau/Rimmer/ringer/Edwards

That'll give us depth in the post after stokes junior season if he stays, and immediate depth behind yemi if stokes leaves this year. also allows us to bring in 2 big time wing scorers, along with Nichols.

Would take that in a heartbeat.

Maybe we can get Julius Randle :)

Nichols has told NBE sports in an interview that depth chart will play a big role in his decision.

Just one more reason to think Tennessee is the favorite over duke or Florida, he'll have a starting spot lined up.

At minimum, he'll see 20-25 minutes a game his freshman year.

Easily. There's nobody to push him for minutes at F next year.

Duke nor Florida can say the same, and the same goes for hubbs if that's a factor to him.

Unless D'Montre Edwards is ten times better than expected, Hubbs will start from day one.

I'd expect hubbs at the 2 and jordy or dmontre the 3, but jordy and hubbs could flip. Either way probably a 3 man rotation with those guys.

Maybe Josh or Armani getting 10 minutes a game.

Got a question for ya. Let's say UT somehow pulls off a miracle and gets King (or more likely Crawford), Hubbs, Nichols, and JW3 and we have one scholly left, and either Armani or Josh handle the backup PG decent. Would you be willing to use that 5th scholly on a big man and ask Landry to look around, or would you keep Landry?

I guess it would depend on Stokes though

It'd really depend on stokes. If he's gone you have to take a big, all you'll have is yemi and Nichols, that won't work, you'd have to take a big. If stokes stays, then I take Landry.

CCM has informed Nichols and Hubbs family hell be in Philly to watch them play later this month.

CCM sees what he wants and is going for it.
