2014 College World Series Thread

Vols had many mud roads in 2014 they will be a better team in 2015.

We need to keep improving our team & get in the tourney- It is not realistic to expect to win the tourney in the first time we qualify in several years... Get Better each year & eventually we can contend most years for Omaha.... We should make progress next year or I will be disappointed - We only needed a win or two more to get in a regional....We are close but need to keep improving and building our program....

In my opinion since how rusty we looked to finish the last month I think we needed to get to the second to last round in the sec tournament.

Win more conference games and avoid the drama of needing to advance one short of the championship game for the conference tournament.

I'm optimistic the vols are going to win 15-18 conference games for the next season,so vols will avoid last minute or close to last minute drama to make the tournament, and even if they don't win sec tournament still make it to a regional because they had a good or very good season.

We couldn't finish in multiple close but no cigar conference games I'm optimistic vols don't have the same problem in 2015. By that I mean win more conference games than they lose.

Next year we make it to the regionals, if we make it to the super regionals I won't be shocked. This is a team that continues to get better each season, this team can be great when they are playing very good in all areas.
The great comebacks vs lsu, Alabama, and vandy signs the vols are on the rise.

Two or three years away from cws, and possibly the super regionals.

15-18 SEC is a lofty goal. 18-12 wins the SEC in some years.

They have very few TN players on their team, year in and year out. Corbin recruits nationally, and hits the NE heavily. It's a school founded/started by Yankees, ran by Yankees and attended by Yankees. It just happens to sit inside TN.
Zander Weil- Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Hayden Stone - Columbia, Tenn.
Bryan Reynolds - Brentwood, Tenn.
Brian Miller -Franklin, Tenn.
Kyle Smith - Old Hickory Tenn.
Penn Murfee - Nashville, Tenn.
Jordan Sheffield - Tullahoma, Tenn.
Will Cooper - Chattanooga, Tenn.
Drake Parker- Union City, Tenn.

9 players out of 34 from TN 26%
8 players from the northeast (NY, Mass, NJ, PA)
9 players from other SEC states (KY, FL, GA, TX)
8 players from the rest of the US (4 from Indiana)
so over half the roster is from the SEC footprint.

For comparison UT's basketball team has 3 players from TN out 12 25%
UT football team 25 players from TN out of 90 27%
The Women basketball team only has 2 TN players
The softball team has more players from California than TN
So percentage wise Vanderbilt's baseball team is as representative of the State of Tennessee as most of the University of Tennessee sports teams.
