Looking forward to next year's race. I hope more NASCAR drivers run in the future. I wish Sato ran better.

Doozer, I got a story behind meeting Dario last night for you. We will have to grab a beer sometime soon.

I'd pay money to see Jimmie run it.

You obviously don't get it and I don't care enough to explain it.

The histories of crossover drivers are well documented. My suggestion to you would be to do yourself a favor and look into it. It has nothing to do with the law of averages.

Not sure if the Unsers were bigger (Bobby, Al Sr, Al Jr.) vs Mario, Michael, John, Marco.

Mario's brother Aldo raced and IIRC at least one Unser was killed in racing maybe 2.

As for better? In wins definitely (9 to 1 at Indy). I bet Andretti's are close though in laps led. The bad Andretti luck at Indy is well documented. Compare that to Al Sr.'s miracle 4th win. Mario won everything so I'd argue he was the best of all in the 2 families. Michael won everywhere but Indy - he was dominant in CART vs Al Jr.

Both are important families of open wheel in the US. Hard to say one was bigger or better than the other.

Uncle Bobby was the best ever. Just ask him.

Jimmie would kick all of their butts.

Umm...no.

Cool. It'll be after I come out of post race hibernation/recovery.

He would easily manhandle the mediocre foreigners in Indy Car nowadays. All the great Indy racers are gone. Danica won a race in Indy car, but she can't win a NASCAR race.

I'm sure Jimmie would love to have a car that handles better and goes quicker.

I'd love to see Michael Schumacher and Jimmy Johnson do the Indy 500. Schumacher would kill them all, but it'd be fun to watch.

If the foreginers in Indy were great, they'd be in F1. It pays more and has more respect. If the Americans in Indy were great, they would go to NASCAR because of pay and exposure.

There's a reason why Danica went to NASCAR. Indy car isn't the racing it use to be when the andrettis, foyts, unsers, or even Scott Pruitt was in it.

Solid trolling. Well done.

The foreign drivers who can't make it in F1 go to Indy. It's funny how a NASCAR guy finishes 6th in their first race.

Um he was on a team that finished 1, 3, 4 and 6. Until Hinchclife wrecked all 5 of the team was in the Top 8 with Busch being last of those 8. Plus, at least 4 more competitive cars crashed ahead of him in the closing laps.

Kurt did a good job but there's a long list of drivers that could have finished well with that car and team.

She won a fuel mileage race with half the competitors at Long Beach. Not exactly the most convincing win. I'm still convinced she got "the call" to drown out Champ Car having their last race.

If the foreigners in Indy had money, they'd be in F1. Put Scott Dixon in a McLaren since January and that car would be much higher on the grid than it is now. Aleshin beat Ricciardo in a straight fight in FR 3.5 after being dumped by Red Bull. Once get past the Raikkonen level of drivers, IndyCar's best are just as good and probably better.

Fuel mileage is such a stupid card to pull.

And the field at Motegi was more impressive than the field a Long Beach.

I'd have to think that one of the Newman Haas boys would have been there to pick up the scraps before Danica.

Michael Andretti, Sebastian bourdais.

Michael half assed his F1 shot and the team responded resulting in him having zero chance of being competitive.

Too bad because he was the tits for a while; a great blend of skill, aggression and patience (if it could be said any Andretti ever had patience).

Back to the 500 - it was by far the best race of the day. Monaco was once again the world's fastest parade laps while Charlotte demonstrated that making a NASCAR race longer just makes it less dramatic.

RHR taking it to the grass on the back straight was worth the price of admission. Add to that the "screw your blocking I'll just pass you on the outside going into Turn 1" action shows that the 500 remains the greatest spectacle in racing - too bad people aren't watching.

Do we know what the TV numbers are? I've not seen yet. The crowd was pretty solid.

I'll be honest, being at the race this year, I felt like I was robbed. The first 150 laps were so fast due to no cautions it shortened my time spent at IMS.

That being said... the last 50 laps were awesome and totally made up for it. I really enjoyed this years race.
