Yea, seems like a risk. Mullen has to be their #1.

They better bring their checkbook with a long line to put zeroes on there. He is already making probably in the $5.5-6m range with incentives, he is probably up for another one year extension with a raise, if he finishes strong. So, what are realistically looking at $8-10m per year for 8 years, plus his buyout which I don't anyone knows. If he lets the Sexton loose on them - $80-100m+ is a distinct possibility.

Two stints in the Pac-12 evidently wasn't enough for Rick Neuheisel, who told The Oregonian's John Canzano on Wednesday he's "always" interested in the Oregon State coaching job.

"They need somebody who can recruit the state of California. That has to be first and foremost," Neuheisel said of the struggling Beavers. "They have to go down there and find the guys who Mike Riley and Dennis Erickson got ... someone who is going to harvest all that talent."

New Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos heaped praise upon UCF coach Scott Frost

New Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos heaped praise upon UCF coach Scott Frost on Tuesday, fueling rumors he could go to Orlando to find a new leader for the Cornhuskers at the end of the season.

"Well, Scott, of course, has a great resume," Moos said during a radio appearance on 1620 The Zone in Omaha. "He has both coached and played the game on both offense and defense. He has learned from some of the great football minds in the business throughout the years both, again, at the college level and in the professional ranks."

Frost has seen his stock skyrocket this year, as he's led the Knights to a 7-0 record just two years after they posted a winless campaign. UCF owns the nation's No. 1 scoring offense and No. 5 offense overall in 2017, making it one of the most entertaining programs to watch.

"I do know that he did a fabulous job at Oregon, especially as the offensive coordinator with developing a Heisman Trophy winner (Marcus Mariota) there and a team that played for a national championship," Moos continued. "So, he's got the full package.

"The only thing that he was missing back then, in my opinion, was actually being a head college coach and all the other responsibilities and obligations that come with that, and he has handled that superbly, from afar, as I look at it."

Moos also acknowledged Frost's ties to Nebraska. The 42-year-old was born in Wood River, Neb., and played three seasons with the Cornhuskers in the 1990s. He returned to the school as a graduate assistant in 2002.

"Scott is going to coach in a Power 5, and probably sooner than later," Moos added. "And he has paid his dues, and I've been quite impressed with that - having never really met him, but just watching his work from afar."

Nebraska is 4-4 this year under Mike Riley, who's believed to be on the hot seat as the season winds down.

They owe him more than $6.6m (buyout) and they are still paying Bo through next year on his buyout. I bet all those crazy fans, sometime around 2015 figured out they made a very unwise choice.

Nebraska AD insists Mike Riley deserves to finish season

Bill Moos isn't in the business of firing head coaches before the end of a season, at least not this season.

The newly anointed Nebraska athletic director provided a thin, translucent blanket of job security for head coach Mike Riley on Monday, declaring he will not be making a decision regarding Riley's tenure until after the season is complete, according to Mitch Sherman of ESPN.

"It's not like I've got a coach to hire this afternoon at 3:30," Moos said. "Mike Riley deserves to finish the 2017 season. That's how I operate."

smoke starting to surface on Chip Kelly and Florida. It's not completely without risk, but it could potentially be a great hire for the Gators.

Oregon ST will prob go after Chad Morris or Neal Brown......after that I see them looking at Joe Moorhead, and Jonathan Smith.

I think Mississippi will go after Venables, Miles.......then maybe Petrino

If we get our #1 guy and Petrino lands at Ole Miss, I'd love to see what he could do there. I know he's perceived as a scoundrel, but I like the guy for some reason.

With Ole Miss' trouble with the NCAA, and the Hugh Freeze scandal, I don't see them taking someone like Petrino.

Mississippi, UCLA, and Florida are no longer "open". Mississippi State is now open.

TX A&M wasn't on the list. Florida State now has an opening.
