2017 State of Tennessee Recruit Commitments

UT has one commit from the three 4 stars and two 5 stars listed occurring to their rankings ... kind of a down year for the wall around TN in that view.... still some time though.

No Amari Rodgers on that list...I thought he was a top guy in the state.

Also, kind of disappointing of not better securing the high level talent at home.

The 2017 lists they have right now has 69 recruits from the state of Tennessee. Seems to me like that can't be the complete lists though.

Keep in mind though, these are just the current commits & not all recruits from the state of Tennessee. That's where you can get yourself confused thinking there's only 69 total when these are just commitments thus far.

What kills me, is losing Higgins and Amari, literally, in the shadow of Neyland Stadium. Plus, I really wanted Jacoby Stevens. There is a hole in the fence this year

I've never thought losing Amari was a big deal. There are dozens of players like him in the South. IMO.

If Trey Smith commits to UT, that would be 3 of the top 5 in the state. Maleik Gray and Ty Chandler being the other two.

My sense was that the Vols never really had a shot with Amari or with Jacoby. Hard to think of them as misses since we were not ever really in the mix.

Maybe so, but if u put a fence around the state, u should get, at the least, one of those 3, if not 2, since 2 out of the 3 are in metro Knox and 1 is a legacy, IMO

If we get Trey that would help and I love Gray and Chandler, but this is our state and this isn't Bama taking our midstate and memphis kids, this is Clemson taking our hometown kids

R u saying Hunter and Tee built a relationship while they were both committed to Tennessee and decided to go to Clemson and take Amari with them ? Because, that is plausible

Could be some of these kids just wanna get away from home. Maybe they feel they've been stuck here all their lives and wanna "see the world" for lack of a better term.

Kiffen may leave Bama and Smith actually comes to neyland with 2 Bama assistants. This OT is one UT has to have IMO. I, like many posters on here, see something wrong with the developing of our lineman and it has to come down to coaching. IF Smith doesn't come to UT I'm gonna assume he see's the same thing.

Pretty sure this is why OL Wray is on his way to UGA instead of UT. I'm also pretty sure if we had a DB coach with more NFL experience or better track record of putting DB's in the NFL, Deangelo Gibbs's cousin would be on campus in Knoxville right now and Gibbs himself would be on his way. Need coaching upgrades at these two spots in a bad way.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. I'm clearly not an insider. Maybe this has been clarified and in just not aware of it.

A lot of Knoxville kids get missed (Randall Cobb)...

No, I don't know what happened with Hunter and Tee. All I know, is they were both committed to UT, changed their minds and both committed to Clemson. I have know idea if they ever met, but I do know Tee and Amari hang out

Congrats to the three young men going to the service academies. Doing more for themselves than just playing football. Always good to see the next generation stepping up for the rest of the malcontents. Go Army beat Navy

You aint going to see much of the world in Clemson, SC or even Spartanburg for that matter. Clemson is a winning program with what is perceived to be an elite coaching staff. Tigers stole our lunch money and made the Best Staff in America eat a double decker turd sandwich with a side of life champion fries.
