Great interview with Kellie today. Appears our sophomores had made a big leap from last season

I really enjoyed the interview - a genuine human being. she stated she is enjoying the moments.

The single word I took away in in describing one player which I hope carries over to the total team is playing "heady."

The best thing about this recruiting year is were not in a desperate situation to sign that many players. We do need to get a couple of players on the roster more than anything else a stretch four and maybe a 2-3 guard. We don't have to sign a point guard this season with Horston a freshman and Massengill a sophomore. Green can also play the position very well. It is always darkest before the dawn and I have confidence that we will find the players we need in this class to replace Brown and Harris. They could be freshmen, Grad Transfers, or JC players complete confidence we'll sign at least two.

Will be interesting if the staff tries to sign a couple of players in the lower half of the top 100 or wait until spring and see what is available with grad transfers, JC or the portal. Would be great to have Westbeld or Madison Hayes commit.

We have 12 bodies and the two we have leaving next year are Brown and Harris . I don’t feel that either one is necessary to replace . JMO

However , the year after that ...... ? We lose KK and DAVIS ! KK we will still have Saunders and Key but might need another big just to help with relief and five more fouls to give.
Davis is the most critical piece of this puzzle.
Last year we were considering Jackson (Jordans) running mate , but she went to Miss.St. And Angel Reese could have been a good get this year ! But Davis is the most critical player we have to replace and very soon ..... What if she doesn’t play next year ? (A possibility in her case ) ? JMO

I have been watching this game and assessing talent for a long time....
...Horston will make the transition a little less impactful by then

Agree ..... Treasure would have been a nice addition. Angel Reese would have been great!
But Westbeld or Hayes would be a couple of nice players that could fit in very nicely. 🤔

I don’t want to see another year that we take just something...... I would rather they take no one ...., portal or JC would be my guess ?

Agree with Horston taking Davis slot .... But hopefully in three years and not her second year ! 😁

Then if we don’t get the wing to replace Davis ..... Another top ten guard then please . 🙏

That means Tennessee is still a program worth considering. And like others have said, once Kellie has Tennessee winning the type of big games on national TV that were losses in recent years, then recruits may want to play for a bright young coach who they know will bring out the best inthem.

Me too. I also enjoy hearing that the players are "eager" and that the staff has the players' confidence. I feel like the lack of confidence in the staff the last few years -- exacerbated by the fact that the head coach had a cringeworthy habit of replying with "I don't know" when asked basketball questions -- was the biggest reason the players gave up on the process. With Kellie, she WILL have an answer. Sometimes the players aren't going to like her answers because her solutions to issues that crop up are likely to mean more hard work in practice, but they'll be confident that she's going to make them better players. Even in these short snippets of video we're seeing the players' body language is already 100% better.

Again as sad as it sounds with the recent results, the way things went down, and the new staffs late start I am not surprised how this class is turning out.

I am optimistic that they even got in the door AND future classes look deep and we already have coaches that established relationships with the 21’ recruits.

Tennessee also loses Jaiden McCoy with KK and Davis. There will be no true high post player. Burrell will be the only wing, and I think she's better served as a backup. I think the biggest need for Tennessee is a solid shooting guard and both an elite wing and power forward. Saunders/Key is fine for the low post, but I'm not convinced that you can play both of them on the court at the same time.

I understand that this new coach and staff got
In late on the 2020 class! But considering the way our program has deteriorated the last few years ..... I will gladly take this situation and be excited about the potential that’s now before us ! Kelly came on and had to re recruit this whole team .... So she could not get them all . I think EW was gone before the season was even over ! You could just tell her heart wasn’t in it any more ! JMO
But Kelly kept a good nucleus and kept all of the commitments for this year to still come ! She got a Junior College player (McCoy ) and a foreign player to sign on .... This is going to be the start of something good ! JMO
I love the recruiting process! Who do we like ? Who likes us ? Have you read the other threads of future players that our coaches are going to their schools to watch them play ? I am sure Holly and them visited schools but I never heard about it .... It seems like every week I add another recruit to my list as I hear that our coaches are watching other players in their high school gyms. Believe me this helps in letting players know we are interested in them ! I was a player .... I got some visits .... You remember...... FOREVER!

I AGREE lol my post was for the doubters who are panicking about this staff! You said what I have said in my previous posts except I wasn’t a player but I was a division 1 runner and I remember who was there and who tried to come in late in the process

As for Maddy Westbeld, wouldn't everyone guess that her most likely choice will be Notre Dame since her sister, Kathryn, played there? I know that's not always how things play out, but I'd be less inclined to think that she'd want to follow in her sister's footsteps if Notre Dame weren't such a strong, strong program with a highly respected, recently successful coach. I mean, it would have to be pretty hard for a kid to say "no" to a program and coach she grew up with through her big sis.

That said, Maddy may wish -- hope so! -- to come south and enjoy the beauty of East Tennessee while playing a huge role in bringing the Lady Vols back to their former glory. Wouldn't that be amazing?! *fingers crossed*

I would think VS is the reason if she does commit! The scenery around that area of Ms. is determined by whether there is a funeral in progress because all the Tractors have their headlights on. Been there many times and it is more or less nothing to see. JMHO as always! SS

When Coach Kellie rebuilds UT's status and our program back to it's rightful place,,,, the recruits will seek her out
